This manual provides instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the Runleader RL-HM006B Digital LCD Hour Meter. This device is designed to track the total running hours of various small gas engines, assisting with timely maintenance.
Setup (Installation)
The Runleader RL-HM006B hour meter offers simple installation methods.
Wiring Connection
The hour meter uses a one-wire connection to detect engine signals. The wire length is approximately 68.8 inches (175 cm) and can be shortened or extended up to 196 inches (500 cm) without affecting functionality.
- Insert one side of the signal wire into the groove on the back of the hour meter.
- Wrap the other side of the signal wire around the spark plug wire of your engine 5-8 times. The total length of the wire is 1.1m / 43.3 inches.

Mounting Options
The hour meter can be mounted using either the included adhesive or screws.
- Stick-on Mounting: Use the provided 3M double-sided tape to adhere the meter to a clean, flat surface.
- Screw-on Mounting: Drill two small holes in the desired mounting location and secure the meter using the two included screws.

Operation
The Runleader RL-HM006B automatically tracks engine operating hours once installed correctly.
Hour Tracking
The meter keeps track of the total running hours when the engine is on. The maximum hour value displayed is 99,999 hours. The display shows hours with 0.1 or 1-hour accuracy.

Data Storage
The historic working hours are stored by a built-in CR2430 lithium metal battery, allowing for continuous accumulation of hours even when the engine is off.

Maintenance
Durability and Resistance
The hour meter is constructed with 100% epoxy resin craft and a PC transparent board, providing strong water and shock resistance. It is designed for use in rainy and moist environments and can withstand exterior impacts.

Battery Life
The built-in CR2430 lithium metal battery has a long lifespan, estimated up to 6.5 years based on approximately 8 hours of use per day. The battery is not user-replaceable.
Troubleshooting
If the hour meter is not displaying correctly or not tracking hours, please check the following:
- Ensure the signal wire is securely connected to the hour meter.
- Verify that the signal wire is wrapped 5-8 times around the spark plug wire. Insufficient wraps may lead to poor signal detection.
- Confirm the engine is running and generating a spark.
- If the display is blank, the internal battery may be depleted. The battery is designed for long life and is not user-replaceable.
