Comgrow Z1 Laser Engraver User Manual

Model: Z1 10W

1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the safe and effective operation of your Comgrow Z1 Laser Engraver. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the device to ensure proper usage and to prevent damage or injury.

The Comgrow Z1 is a versatile laser engraver and cutter featuring a 10W output power and a 0.08mm compressed laser spot, suitable for engraving and cutting various materials including plywood, acrylic, metal, and wood.

2. Safety Precautions

Operating a laser engraver involves potential hazards. Adhere to the following safety guidelines:

  • Eye Protection: Always wear the provided safety goggles when the laser is in operation. Never look directly at the laser beam.
  • Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation in the work area to dissipate fumes and smoke produced during engraving and cutting.
  • Fire Safety: Keep a fire extinguisher nearby. Do not leave the machine unattended during operation, especially when cutting flammable materials.
  • Material Compatibility: Only engrave or cut materials specified as safe. Avoid materials that produce toxic fumes or are highly reflective.
  • Emergency Stop: Familiarize yourself with the emergency stop procedure. The machine is designed to stop if tilted more than 30 degrees or if abnormal movement is detected.
  • Stable Surface: Place the engraver on a stable, level, and heat-resistant surface. The aluminum base helps prevent burning the underlying table.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Engraving/Cutting Process

  1. Prepare Material: Place the material to be engraved or cut on the working surface. Ensure it is flat and securely positioned.
  2. Software Setup: Open your chosen software (LaserGRBL or LightBurn). Import your design.
  3. Adjust Parameters: Set the laser power, speed, and number of passes according to the material type and desired outcome. The 10W laser is capable of cutting 7mm plywood in one pass and 5mm black acrylic in two passes.
  4. Focus the Laser: Adjust the laser focus for optimal precision. The 0.08mm compressed laser spot ensures fine details.
  5. Positioning: Use the X and Y axis scales on the frame to precisely position your material relative to the laser head.
  6. Start Operation: Initiate the engraving or cutting process from the software. Monitor the operation closely.
