6. Installation
Before proceeding with installation, ensure the main power supply to the circuit is turned off at the circuit breaker. This device is designed for installation in a standard electrical wall box (e.g., 503 type) or a suitable junction box.
6.1 Wiring Diagram
Refer to the following diagram for correct wiring connections. Incorrect wiring can damage the device or cause electrical hazards.

Figure 6.1: Wiring Diagram for Homcloud Wi-Fi Smart Shutter Module. This diagram illustrates the connections for Line (L), Neutral (N), and motor control (Up/Down) terminals. It also shows the connection to a traditional wall switch.
6.2 Wiring Steps
- Disconnect Power: Turn off the main power supply at the circuit breaker before starting any wiring.
- Identify Wires: Identify the Live (L), Neutral (N), and motor control wires (Up, Down) from your existing shutter system and wall switch.
- Connect Power: Connect the Live wire to the 'L' terminal and the Neutral wire to the 'N' terminal on the module.
- Connect Motor: Connect the motor's 'Up' wire to the 'Up arrow' terminal and the motor's 'Down' wire to the 'Down arrow' terminal on the module.
- Connect Wall Switch (Optional): If using a traditional wall switch in parallel, connect its output wires to the corresponding 'Up arrow' and 'Down arrow' terminals on the module. Ensure the switch is a momentary type (push-button) if used for both up and down control.
- Secure Module: Carefully place the module into the electrical box, ensuring no wires are pinched. The module is designed to fit into standard 503-type boxes.
- Restore Power: Once all connections are secure and the module is safely housed, restore power at the circuit breaker.
Note: The module works in parallel with traditional wall switches, allowing both smart control and manual control. Ensure sufficient space in the electrical box, especially if there are many existing wires.
7. Setup (App Configuration)
After successful physical installation, configure the module using the Homcloud application.
7.1 Download the App
Download the "Homcloud" app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. The module is also compatible with the "Smart Life" app.
7.2 Initial Pairing
- Power On: Ensure the module has power. The Wi-Fi indicator light should be blinking rapidly. If not, press and hold the reset button (refer to Figure 4.3) for 5-10 seconds until it blinks rapidly.
- Open App: Open the Homcloud app and register or log in to your account.
- Add Device: Tap the "+" icon or "Add Device" button.
- Select Device Type: Choose "Curtain Switch" or "Shutter Module" from the device list.
- Connect to Wi-Fi: Ensure your smartphone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. The module only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Enter your Wi-Fi password in the app.
- Confirm Blinking: Confirm that the indicator light on the module is blinking rapidly in the app.
- Pairing Process: The app will begin searching for and connecting to the module. This process typically takes less than 4 minutes.
- Device Added: Once connected, you can rename the device and assign it to a room.
Note: If pairing fails, ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz and try again. You may need to reset the module by holding the reset button until the indicator blinks rapidly.
8. Operating Instructions
Control your smart shutter module using the Homcloud app, voice commands, or the traditional wall switch.
8.1 App Control
- Open the Homcloud app and select your shutter module.
- You will see controls for "Open," "Close," and "Pause," along with a slider to set the opening percentage.
- Timer and Schedule: Use the app to set schedules for automatic opening and closing of your shutters at specific times.
- Remote Control: Control your shutters from anywhere with an internet connection.
- Device Sharing: Share control of the device with family members through the app's sharing function.
8.2 Voice Control (Alexa & Google Home)
The module is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Home for voice control.
- Link Account: In your Alexa or Google Home app, enable the "Homcloud" skill/action and link your Homcloud account.
- Discover Devices: Ask Alexa or Google Home to discover new devices.
- Voice Commands: Use commands such as:
- "Alexa, open [Shutter Name]"
- "Hey Google, close [Shutter Name]"
- "Alexa, set [Shutter Name] to 50%" (for partial opening/closing)
8.3 Manual Control
If connected to a traditional wall switch, you can still control your shutters manually. The module operates in parallel, meaning actions from the wall switch will be reflected in the app, and vice-versa.
9. Troubleshooting
- Device not connecting to Wi-Fi:
- Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. The module does not support 5GHz networks during initial setup.
- Verify your Wi-Fi password is correct.
- Move the module closer to your Wi-Fi router if signal strength is weak.
- Reset the module by holding the reset button for 5-10 seconds until the indicator light blinks rapidly, then try pairing again.
- Restart your Wi-Fi router.
- Voice control (Alexa/Google Home) not working:
- Ensure the "Homcloud" skill/action is enabled in your smart assistant app and your Homcloud account is linked.
- Ask your smart assistant to "discover devices."
- Check if the device is online in the Homcloud app.
- Sometimes, power cycling the module (turning off and on the main power) can resolve connectivity issues with voice assistants.
- Shutter motor not responding correctly or stopping mid-way:
- Verify the motor wiring connections (Up/Down) are correct as per the diagram.
- Ensure the motor's limit switches (fine corsa) are properly set. This module controls the motor's power, but the motor itself handles its travel limits.
- Check if the motor is receiving sufficient power.
- If using a traditional switch, ensure it's functioning correctly.
- Module disconnects frequently:
- Check your Wi-Fi signal strength at the module's location.
- Ensure your Wi-Fi router is stable and not experiencing frequent outages.
- If power outages occur, the module should reconnect automatically once power is restored. If not, a manual reset and re-pairing might be necessary.
10. Maintenance
The Homcloud Wi-Fi Smart Shutter Module requires minimal maintenance. Keep the device free from dust and moisture. Do not attempt to open or repair the module yourself, as this will void the warranty and may pose a safety risk. For cleaning, use a dry, soft cloth.
