1. Important Safety Information
Always read and understand this manual completely before operating the lawn mower. Failure to follow instructions can result in serious injury or property damage.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear safety glasses or goggles, hearing protection, and sturdy footwear when operating the mower.
- Clear the Area: Before mowing, clear the area of objects such as rocks, toys, wires, or other debris that could be thrown by the blade.
- Keep Bystanders Away: Ensure children, pets, and other people are at a safe distance from the mowing area.
- Engine Off: Always turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire before performing any maintenance, cleaning, or when clearing a clogged discharge chute.
- Slope Operation: Exercise extreme caution when operating on slopes. Mow across the face of slopes, never up and down. Avoid mowing excessively steep slopes.
- Fuel Safety: Handle gasoline with extreme care. It is highly flammable. Store fuel in approved containers and never refuel a hot engine.

3.2 Grass Collection Bag Assembly
Assemble the grass collection bag by sliding the fabric bag over the frame. Ensure it is securely attached to prevent grass clippings from escaping.
3.3 Adding Engine Oil
Locate the oil fill cap/dipstick on the engine. Remove it and slowly pour the entire bottle of engine oil (provided) into the oil reservoir. Do not overfill. Check the oil level with the dipstick, ensuring it is between the 'Full' and 'Add' marks.

3.4 Adding Fuel
Use fresh, clean, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Fill the fuel tank carefully, avoiding spills. Do not fill the tank completely; leave some space for fuel expansion. Always replace the fuel cap securely.
4. Operating the Mower
4.1 Starting the Engine
Ensure the spark plug wire is connected. For Briggs & Stratton engines with ReadyStart technology, no priming or choking is required. Simply pull the starter cord firmly and smoothly until the engine starts.
4.2 Adjusting Cutting Height
The mower features a single-lever 7-position deck height adjustment, ranging from 1.25 inches to 3.75 inches. To adjust, pull the lever outwards and move it to the desired height setting. Ensure all four wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.

4.3 Mowing Modes (3-in-1 Functionality)
Your Yard Force mower offers three cutting options:
- Mulching: For finely cut grass clippings that return nutrients to the lawn. Ensure the side discharge chute is closed and the rear bag is removed, with the mulching plug inserted.
- Bagging: For collecting grass clippings. Attach the grass collection bag to the rear of the mower.
- Side Discharge: For dispersing clippings out the side. Attach the side discharge chute to the mower deck.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your lawn mower. Always refer to the engine manufacturer's manual for specific engine maintenance schedules.
5.1 Engine Maintenance
- Oil Change: Change engine oil after the first 5 hours of operation, then every 25 hours or annually.
- Air Filter: Clean or replace the air filter regularly, especially in dusty conditions.
- Spark Plug: Inspect and clean the spark plug annually. Replace if necessary.
5.2 Blade Care
Inspect the blade regularly for sharpness and damage. A dull blade tears grass, leading to an unhealthy lawn. Sharpen or replace the blade as needed. Always wear heavy gloves when handling the blade.
5.3 Deck Cleaning
After each use, clean the underside of the mower deck to prevent grass buildup, which can affect cutting performance and lead to rust. Use a hose and a brush, ensuring the spark plug wire is disconnected.
5.4 Storage
For seasonal storage, drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer. Clean the mower thoroughly. Store in a dry, protected area. The foldable handle allows for compact storage.
6. Troubleshooting
Refer to this table for common issues and their solutions.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Engine will not start | No fuel; Stale fuel; Spark plug disconnected or fouled; Clogged air filter | Add fresh fuel; Drain and refill with fresh fuel; Connect/clean/replace spark plug; Clean/replace air filter |
| Mower cuts unevenly | Dull blade; Uneven wheel height adjustment; Grass buildup under deck | Sharpen/replace blade; Adjust all wheels to same height; Clean underside of deck |
| Excessive vibration | Bent or unbalanced blade; Loose engine bolts | Inspect/replace blade; Tighten engine mounting bolts |
| Self-propel not engaging | Drive belt loose or broken; Cable adjustment needed | Inspect/replace drive belt; Adjust drive cable tension |
