1. Introduction and Overview

The VTech VM5254 Digital 5-inch Video Baby Monitor System provides a secure and reliable way to monitor your baby. It features a 1080p video camera and a large 5-inch LCD parent unit. 3. Safety Information

4. Setup

4.1 Powering the Baby Unit (Camera)

  1. Connect the small plug of the baby unit power adapter to the power jack on the back of the baby unit.
  2. Plug the large end of the power adapter into a wall outlet.
  3. The baby unit will power on automatically.

4.2 Powering the Parent Unit

  1. Connect the small plug of the parent unit power adapter to the power jack on the side of the parent unit.
  2. Plug the large end of the power adapter into a wall outlet.
  3. Press and hold the POWER button on the parent unit until the screen turns on.
  4. The parent unit comes with a built-in rechargeable battery. For optimal performance, charge the battery for at least 12 hours before initial use.

4.3 Positioning the Baby Unit

Place the baby unit in a location that provides a clear view of your baby in the crib. Ensure the unit is at least 3 feet away from the crib to prevent entanglement hazards with the power cord. The camera angle can be adjusted for the best view.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Parent Unit Controls

  • POWER: Turns the parent unit on or off.
  • TALK: Press and hold to speak to your baby through the baby unit.
  • MENU/SELECT: Accesses the menu options or confirms a selection.
  • Arrow Buttons (▲ ▼ ◀ ►): Navigate through menu options or adjust camera pan/tilt.
  • VOL +/-: Adjusts the listening volume.
  • ZOOM: Magnifies the image on the screen.
  • VIEW: Switches between cameras if multiple are paired (not applicable for single camera system).
  • EXIT/LCD ON/OFF: Exits menu or turns the LCD screen on/off while audio monitoring continues.

5.2 Monitoring Your Baby

Once both units are powered on and linked, the parent unit will automatically display the video feed from the baby unit. The LINK indicator on the parent unit will be green when a connection is established.

5.3 Two-Way Talk

To speak to your baby, press and hold the TALK button on the parent unit. Release the button to hear your baby.

5.4 Night Vision

The baby unit is equipped with infrared LEDs for automatic night vision. In low light conditions, the unit will automatically switch to black and white night vision mode, allowing you to see your baby clearly in the dark.

5.5 Adaptive Nightlight and Lullabies

The baby unit features an adaptive multicolor nightlight and can play lullabies and soft sounds. Refer to the parent unit menu for options to control the nightlight color and brightness, and to select and play lullabies.

5.6 Temperature Monitoring

The parent unit displays the temperature of the nursery, as detected by the baby unit's sensor. This allows you to ensure your baby's room is at a comfortable temperature.

The parent unit uses a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery. To prolong battery life:

  • Charge the battery fully before first use.
