1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the proper use, setup, and maintenance of your Retrospec H1 Ski & Snowboard Helmet. Please read these instructions thoroughly before using the helmet to ensure maximum safety and performance.
2. Safety Information
The Retrospec H1 helmet is designed to provide protection for skiing and snowboarding activities. It features a certified ABS exterior and an EPS foam interior for impact absorption.
- Always ensure the helmet fits snugly and the chin strap is securely fastened before use.
- A helmet cannot protect against all possible impacts. Severe impacts may result in serious injury or death.
- Inspect the helmet for any damage before each use. If the helmet shows signs of damage, or if it has sustained an impact, it must be replaced immediately, even if visible damage is not apparent.
- Do not modify the helmet in any way, as this may compromise its protective capabilities.
- Avoid exposing the helmet to extreme temperatures or harsh chemicals, which can degrade materials.

4. Setup and Fitting
4.1. Sizing Guide
To ensure proper fit and maximum protection, measure the circumference of your head just above your eyebrows. Refer to the sizing chart below:

Image: Helmet Sizing Chart
- Small: 51-54 cm
- Medium: 54-58 cm
- Large: 58-61 cm
4.2. Adjusting the Fit
- Place the helmet on your head. It should sit level and cover your forehead.
- Locate the ErgoKnob adjustable dial at the rear of the helmet. Turn the dial clockwise to tighten the fit or counter-clockwise to loosen it. Adjust until the helmet feels snug and secure without causing discomfort. The helmet should not move freely when you shake your head.
- Fasten the chin strap. Adjust the strap so it is snug under your chin, allowing only one or two fingers to fit between the strap and your chin. The strap should not chafe.
4.3. Convertible Configuration (Snow to Skate/Bike)
The H1 helmet can be adapted for different sports:
- To convert for skate/bike use, gently detach the removable earmuffs and the fleece netted cap from the helmet interior.
- Install the foam padding inserts (included with the helmet) into the designated areas inside the helmet for a secure and comfortable fit without the fleece lining.
- Ensure all components are securely fastened before use.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Wearing the Helmet
Ensure the helmet is properly adjusted as described in Section 4.2. The helmet should cover your forehead and not obstruct your vision.

- Slide the goggle strap under the goggle clip to hold it in place.

5.3. Airflow Management
The 10 integrated vents facilitate air circulation. Fresh air enters through the front and top vents, pushing out warm, moist air through the rear vents. This design helps maintain a comfortable temperature and reduces goggle fogging.

6. Maintenance
6.1. Cleaning the Helmet
- Use only mild soap and water to clean the helmet's exterior. Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners.
- The fleece netted cap and earmuffs are removable for cleaning. Hand wash them with mild soap and water, then air dry completely before reattaching.
- Do not machine wash or tumble dry any helmet components.
6.2. Storage
Store the helmet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Do not store heavy objects on top of the helmet, as this can cause damage.
7. Troubleshooting
- Helmet feels loose: Adjust the ErgoKnob dial clockwise to tighten the fit. Ensure the chin strap is also snug.
- Helmet feels too tight/uncomfortable: Adjust the ErgoKnob dial counter-clockwise to loosen the fit. Check if the correct size helmet was selected using the sizing guide.
- Goggles fogging: Ensure the helmet's vents are clear and not obstructed. Proper airflow is crucial for reducing fog. Check that your goggles are compatible and properly seated with the helmet.
- Earmuffs not staying in place: Ensure the earmuffs are correctly snapped or attached to their designated points inside the helmet.
