1. Introduction

The DIGITNOW Video to Digital Converter is a versatile device designed to capture and record HD 1080P video from various analog and digital sources such as VCRs, VHS Tapes, Hi8 camcorders, DVDs, TV boxes, and gaming systems. It features a 5-inch OLED screen for real-time preview and playback, eliminating the need for a computer during the recording process. Recorded videos can be saved directly to an SD card or USB flash drive for easy transfer and preservation.

3. Product Overview

3.1 Device Layout

4. Setup and Connections

The DIGITNOW converter supports both AV and HDMI input/output, offering flexibility for various devices.

4.1 Connecting to a Video Source

Connect your video source (e.g., VCR, DVD player, camcorder, gaming system) to the converter using either the provided RCA to AV cable or an HDMI cable.

  • For AV Sources: Connect the RCA (red, white, yellow) cables from your source's AV OUT ports to the converter's AV IN port using the provided RCA to AV cable.
  • For HDMI Sources: Connect an HDMI cable from your source's HDMI OUT port to the converter's HDMI IN port.

Ensure the input video source device (such as VHS, VCR/Camcorder, set-top boxes, computers, game consoles, etc.) is working and can provide audio or video signals to the product before recording.

4.2 Connecting to a Display (Optional)

You can connect the converter to a larger display (like a TV or monitor) to preview your video while recording or for playback.

  • For AV Displays: Connect an AV cable from the converter's AV OUT port to your display's AV IN port.
  • For HDMI Displays: Connect an HDMI cable from the converter's HDMI OUT port to your display's HDMI IN port.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Powering On/Off

To power on the device, press and hold the power button located on the top. The screen will display a blue background. To power off, press and hold the same button.

5.2 Recording Video

Once your video source is connected and powered on, the live feed will appear on the 5-inch OLED screen. Press the 'Record' button (usually marked with a red dot or 'REC') to begin recording. Press it again to stop recording.

The device automatically splits long recordings into MOV video files of 4 GB each (1080p input auto-split about 20 minutes, 720P is about 40 minutes). If you wish to combine longer recorded videos into one file, you can do so on a computer after recording.

5.3 Playback

To play back recorded videos, navigate to the playback mode using the 'Mode' button. Use the 'PREV' and 'NEXT' buttons to browse through your recorded files. Press 'OK' to play a selected video.

6. Menu Navigation and Settings

Press the 'MENU' button to access the device settings. Use the navigation buttons (up/down, OK) to select and adjust options.

  • Language: Select your preferred language.
  • System Date/Time Setting: Adjust the date and time.
  • Date Stamp: Turn the date stamp on or off for recorded videos.
  • Movie Quality: Choose recording quality (e.g., 1080P60 H, 1080P60 L, 720P).
  • Video Source: Manually select between HDMI or AV input.
  • Auto Stop Recording: Set a time limit for automatic recording stop (e.g., 60 min, 90 min, 120 min, 150 min).
  • USB Mode: Switch between 'Charging' and 'MSDC' (Mass Storage Device Class) for connecting to a computer.
  • Default Storage Device: Select between SD card or USB as the default storage.
  • Schedule Recording: Set daily, once, or weekly scheduled recordings.
  • Formatting: Format the inserted SD card or USB drive (Note: This will erase all data).
  • Restore Factory Settings: Reset the device to its default settings.
  • Firmware Version: View the current firmware version (e.g., V102-A V4.3).

7. Battery and Storage

The device has a built-in 1800mAh large-capacity battery, allowing for portable use. It can be charged via the provided 5V power adapter or a computer's USB port. A full charge typically takes about 2.5 hours.

The device comes with an SD card (typically 32GB) for immediate use. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use a Class 10 or higher speed class SD card. Incorrect format or a low speed level SD card may affect the normal use of the device.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your DIGITNOW Video to Digital Converter, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Audio/Video Signal: Before pressing the record button, ensure the input video source device (such as VHS, VCR/Camcorder, set-top boxes, computers, game consoles, etc.) is working and can provide audio or video signals to the product.
  • Software Stuck/Unresponsive: If the video capture card's software gets stuck, the system can be reset by inserting a pin or similar object into the small hole on the back of the device.
  • Recording Failure: If you do not succeed in recording video material, the cables may be connected incorrectly or too loosely. Double-check all connections.
  • SD Card/USB Drive Issues: Before using a USB flash drive or an SD card, please make sure to set the format to FAT32 or exFAT, and the maximum capacity to 128GB. For the best result, it is recommended to use a Class 10 or higher speed class SD card. Incorrect format or a low speed level SD card may affect the normal use of the device.
  • How to Format Storage via Device:
    1. Press the "Menu" button to enter the menu options, then select the "Format" option.
    2. Press the "OK" button to enter the format interface, then select the "YES" option and press the "OK" button to confirm the format.
