4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Initial Power On and Recording
Once connected to power, the dashcam will automatically power on and begin recording when your vehicle starts. A voice prompt will confirm operation.
4.2 Connecting to the Smartphone App
- Ensure the dashcam is powered on.
- On your smartphone, enable Wi-Fi and search for the dashcam's Wi-Fi network (refer to the app or dashcam's packaging for the default network name and password).
- Connect your smartphone to the dashcam's Wi-Fi network.
- Open the Ampire DC1 app. The app will automatically connect to the dashcam.
4.3 App Functions
Through the smartphone app, you can:
- View live footage from the dashcam.
- Access and playback recorded videos.
- Download and export recordings to your smartphone.
- Adjust dashcam settings, including video resolution, G-sensor sensitivity, microphone on/off, and voice prompt language.
- Format the MicroSD card.
4.4 G-Sensor and Event Recording
The integrated 3-axis G-sensor detects sudden impacts or movements (e.g., collisions, hard braking). When an event is detected, the dashcam automatically locks the current recording segment, preventing it from being overwritten during loop recording. The sensitivity of the G-sensor can be adjusted via the app.
4.5 GPS Functionality
The integrated GPS receiver records your vehicle's location and speed data, which can be viewed alongside your video footage through the app or dedicated PC viewer software (if available).
4.6 Parking Mode (Optional)
The Ampire DC1 supports a parking mode feature, which requires optional ACC accessories (not included). When properly installed, parking mode allows the dashcam to monitor your vehicle while parked, typically using motion detection or G-sensor triggers to record events.
5. Maintenance
- Cleaning the Lens: Regularly clean the camera lens with a soft, lint-free cloth to ensure clear video recordings. Avoid abrasive materials.
- MicroSD Card Management: To maintain optimal recording performance and prevent data corruption, it is recommended to format the MicroSD card through the app every few weeks or months, depending on usage. Back up any important recordings before formatting.
- Firmware Updates: Check the Ampire website or the smartphone app periodically for any available firmware updates. Keeping your dashcam's firmware up-to-date can improve performance and add new features.
6. Troubleshooting
- Dashcam not powering on:
- Ensure the power cable is securely connected to both the dashcam and the vehicle's 12V power outlet.
- Check if the vehicle's 12V power outlet is functioning (e.g., by plugging in another device).
- Recording issues (e.g., no recording, corrupted files):
- Verify that a compatible MicroSD card (Class 10, 32-128GB) is correctly inserted.
- Format the MicroSD card using the smartphone app.
- Try using a different MicroSD card to rule out card failure.
- Cannot connect to Wi-Fi / App issues:
- Ensure the dashcam is powered on.
- Restart both the dashcam (by unplugging and replugging) and your smartphone.
- Check your smartphone's Wi-Fi settings to ensure it's connected to the dashcam's network.
- Reinstall the smartphone app.
- GPS not working:
- Ensure the dashcam has a clear view of the sky for satellite reception. Avoid mounting locations that might block the GPS signal.
- Allow a few minutes for the GPS to acquire a signal after powering on.
