Safety Instructions
- Do not expose the amplifier to rain or moisture.
- Ensure proper ventilation around the unit. Do not block ventilation openings.
- Avoid placing the amplifier near heat sources or in direct sunlight.
- Do not open the amplifier casing. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.

- Handle vacuum tubes with care as they can become hot during operation.
Setup
Unpacking and Inspection
Carefully remove the amplifier from its packaging. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage that may have occurred during transit. Retain the original packaging for future transport or storage.
Tube Installation
The Cayin CS-55A uses EL34 power tubes and 12AU7/12AX7 pre-amplifier tubes. Ensure all tubes are securely seated in their sockets. If tubes are packed separately, carefully insert them into their designated sockets, aligning the pins with the socket holes.
Connecting Speakers
Connect your speakers to the appropriate speaker terminals on the rear panel of the amplifier. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -) for optimal sound quality. The amplifier is designed to drive various speaker types.
Connecting Audio Sources
- Analog Inputs: Connect your CD player, tuner, or other analog audio sources to the RCA input jacks (e.g., CD, AUX).
- Phono Input: For turntables with an MM (Moving Magnet) cartridge, connect to the dedicated MM Phono input. An external pre-amplifier is required for MC (Moving Coil) cartridges.
- USB-B Input: Connect the amplifier to a computer (Windows or Mac OS) using a USB-B cable for digital audio playback. This input supports PCM audio streams from 44.1 kHz up to 384 kHz (16 to 32 bit).
Power Connection
Connect the supplied power cord to the amplifier's AC inlet and then to a suitable wall outlet.
Operating Instructions
Powering On/Off
Press the POWER button on the front panel to turn the amplifier on or off. Allow a brief warm-up period for the tubes to stabilize after powering on.
Input Selection
Use the SELECTOR knob on the front panel to choose your desired audio input (e.g., TRI/UL, AUX, CD, Phono, USB).
Volume Control
Adjust the overall sound level using the large VOLUME knob. Start with a low volume setting and gradually increase it to a comfortable listening level.
Headphone Output
Connect your headphones to the PHONES jack on the front panel. The amplifier features a powerful headphone amplifier capable of driving demanding headphone models.
Triode and Ultralinear Modes
The Cayin CS-55A offers two operational modes:
- Triode Mode: Provides a warm sound with a large soundstage. Maximum output power is 20 watts per channel.
- Ultralinear Mode: Offers a more linear frequency response with higher power output. Maximum output power is 38 watts per channel.
Switch between these modes using the dedicated switch or selector on the amplifier.
Maintenance
Cleaning
Wipe the amplifier's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
Tube Replacement
Vacuum tubes have a finite lifespan. If you notice a degradation in sound quality or tube failure, consult a qualified technician for tube replacement. Always use compatible replacement tubes.
Ventilation
Ensure that the amplifier has adequate ventilation at all times to prevent overheating. Do not place objects on top of the amplifier that could obstruct airflow.
