5. Maintenance

5.1 Emptying the Waste Bin

5.2 Cleaning

Wipe the exterior of the shredder with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. For optimal performance and longevity of the cutting blades, regular oiling with Fellowes shredder oil is recommended, especially after emptying the bin multiple times or after heavy use.

  • Shredder does not start:
    • Check if the power cord is securely plugged in.
    • Ensure the safety lock is disengaged and the control switch is in the 'Auto' position.
    • Verify the waste bin is fully inserted and correctly seated.
  • Paper jam:
    • Switch the control to 'Reverse' (R) to clear the jam. If necessary, gently pull the paper out.
    • If the jam persists, unplug the shredder, carefully remove the shredder head (if detachable), and clear the paper manually. Reassemble before plugging back in.
  • Overheat protection activated:
    • If the shredder stops during operation and a red indicator light illuminates, the overheat protection has been activated.
    • Unplug the shredder and allow it to cool down for approximately 30 minutes before resuming operation.
