1. Introduction and Safety Information
Thank you for purchasing the THOMSON THDV2158 Steam Defroster. This all-in-one vertical garment steamer with an integrated ironing board is designed to efficiently remove wrinkles, refresh fabrics, and disinfect garments. Please read this manual carefully before use to ensure safe and optimal operation.
Important Safety Instructions
- Always ensure the appliance is unplugged before filling or emptying the water tank, or when not in use.
- Do not immerse the appliance, power cord, or plug in water or other liquids.
- Keep the appliance out of reach of children and pets.
- Use only distilled or demineralized water to prevent mineral buildup and extend the life of the appliance.
- Do not direct steam at people, animals, or electrical appliances. Steam is hot and can cause burns.
- Ensure the power cord is not damaged and avoid placing it near hot surfaces.

3. Setup and Assembly
3.1 Assembly
- Unpack all components and place the main unit on a stable, flat surface.
- Insert the telescopic poles into the designated slots on the main unit. Extend them to your desired height.
- Attach the adjustable ironing board to the top of the telescopic poles. Ensure it clicks securely into place. The board can be set to three different positions for optimal ironing.
- Connect the steam hose to the steam outlet on the main unit. Twist clockwise until it is firmly secured.
- Attach the steam head to the end of the steam hose.

3.2 Filling the Water Tank
- Ensure the appliance is unplugged from the power outlet.
- Remove the water tank from the main unit.
- Open the water tank cap and fill it with clean, distilled or demineralized water up to the MAX line (1.45 liters). Do not overfill.
- Close the cap securely and place the water tank back into the main unit.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Powering On and Heating
- Plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet (230V).
- Press the power button on the main unit. The indicator light will illuminate.
- The appliance will heat up in approximately 60 seconds. The indicator light may change or stop flashing when ready.
4.2 Adjusting Steam Settings
The THDV2158 offers 5 different steam settings to suit various fabric types. Use the steam control dial or buttons on the main unit to select your desired steam level. The continuous steam output is up to 40 g/min.
- Low Steam: Delicate fabrics like silk, satin.
- Medium Steam: Synthetics, blends.
- High Steam: Cotton, linen, denim.
- Adjust as needed for optimal results without damaging the fabric.
4.3 Steaming Garments
- Hang the garment on a hanger on the adjustable ironing board. The board can be positioned vertically for steaming or at an angle for light ironing.
- Hold the steam head a few centimeters away from the fabric.
- Move the steam head slowly over the garment, from top to bottom.
- For stubborn wrinkles, gently press the steam head against the fabric while steaming.
- For thicker fabrics or to remove lint, attach the fabric brush to the steam head.
- The 40 g/min hot steam also provides a disinfection function, eliminating up to 99.99% of germs and bacteria from fabrics.
- The 1.45L water tank allows for up to 40 minutes of continuous steaming.

4.4 Finishing and Storage
- When finished, press the power button to turn off the appliance.
- Unplug the power cord from the outlet.
- Allow the appliance to cool down completely before storing.
5. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your steam defroster.
5.1 Emptying and Cleaning the Water Tank
- Ensure the appliance is unplugged and cool.
- Remove the water tank and empty any remaining water.
- Rinse the tank with clean water. Do not use harsh detergents.
- Allow the tank to air dry before reattaching or storing.
5.2 Descaling
Over time, mineral deposits can build up, especially if tap water is used. Descale your appliance every few months or as needed:
- Mix a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water.
- Fill the water tank with this solution.
- Plug in the appliance and allow it to heat up.
- Run the steamer until half of the solution has been used.
- Turn off and unplug the appliance, allowing it to cool.
- Empty the remaining solution and rinse the tank thoroughly with fresh water.
- Refill with fresh water and run the steamer for a few minutes to flush out any remaining vinegar.
5.3 Cleaning the Steam Head and Exterior
- Wipe the steam head and exterior surfaces with a soft, damp cloth.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Ensure all parts are dry before storing.
