2. Adjusting the Fit
- Shoulder Straps: Loosen all straps, then put on the pack. Tighten the shoulder straps until the pack feels secure and comfortable on your back.
- Sternum Strap: Adjust the sternum strap for comfort across your chest. The magnetic bite valve attachment should be easily reachable.
- Hipbelt: For the Syncro 20, fasten and tighten the stabilizing AirMesh wrap hipbelt. Ensure it sits comfortably around your hips to distribute weight effectively.
3. LidLock Helmet Carry
- Locate the LidLock attachment on the front of the pack.
- Pull the elastic cord through the helmet's vents and secure it with the toggle. This allows for convenient helmet storage when not in use.

4. Blinker Light Attachment

5. Integrated Raincover
- The integrated high-visibility raincover is stored in a dedicated pocket at the bottom of the pack.
- To deploy, unzip the pocket, pull out the raincover, and stretch it over the entire backpack.

Operating Your Backpack
The Syncro 20 is designed for efficient storage and quick access to your gear.
1. Storage Compartments
- Main Compartment: Use for larger items like extra layers or food.
- Zippered Tool Organization Pocket: Located at the front, this pocket provides dedicated sleeves and compartments for bike tools, pumps, and other small essentials.
- Scratch-Free Zippered Slash Pocket: Ideal for sunglasses, phones, or other delicate items that require protection.
- Dual Stretch Mesh Side Pockets: Perfect for water bottles or quick-access items.
- Hipbelt Pockets (Syncro 20 only): Dual zippered pockets on the hipbelt offer convenient on-trail access to small items like snacks or keys.
- Front Panel Pocket: A stretch mesh pocket on the front panel provides additional quick-stash storage.
2. Hydration System Use
- To drink, simply detach the magnetic bite valve from the sternum strap and bite down on the valve while sucking.
- Ensure the bite valve is securely reattached to the magnet when not in use to prevent it from dangling.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance will prolong the life of your Osprey Syncro 20 backpack.
- Cleaning the Pack: Hand wash with mild soap and cold water. Do not use bleach or harsh detergents. Air dry thoroughly away from direct sunlight.
- Cleaning the Reservoir: After each use, rinse the reservoir and hose with warm water. For thorough cleaning, use a bottle brush and mild soap. Ensure it is completely dry before storing to prevent mold growth.
- Raincover Care: Clean the raincover with a damp cloth if dirty. Ensure it is dry before folding and storing to prevent mildew.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Syncro 20, consider the following common solutions:
- Poor Fit/Discomfort: Re-adjust all straps (shoulder, sternum, hipbelt) while wearing the pack with some weight. Ensure the hipbelt is properly positioned on your hips.
- Hydration Flow Issues: Check if the bite valve is open and not clogged. Ensure the reservoir is full and not kinked in the hose. Clean the reservoir and hose if necessary.
- Squeaking Noises: Check all buckles and straps for proper seating. Sometimes, friction between materials can cause minor squeaks, which may diminish with use.
