8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Enclosure not detected by computer. | Loose cable connection, insufficient power, drive not properly installed, driver issue. | Check all cable connections. Ensure power adapter is securely plugged in. Verify the HDD/SSD is correctly seated inside the enclosure. Try a different USB port on your computer. Check Device Manager (Windows) or System Information (macOS) for unrecognized devices. |
| Slow data transfer speeds. | Connected to a USB 2.0 port, old drive, cable issue. | Ensure the enclosure is connected to a USB 3.0/3.1/3.2 port on your computer. Check the health of your HDD/SSD. Try a different USB cable. |
| Drive not showing up in 'My Computer'/'Finder'. | Drive not formatted or partitioned. | For new drives, you may need to initialize, partition, and format the drive using Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (macOS). |
| Enclosure feels hot. | Normal operation, poor ventilation. | Some heat is normal during operation, especially with active drives. Ensure the enclosure has adequate airflow and is not covered. If excessively hot, power off and allow to cool. |
