3. Setup and Installation
3.1. Before You Begin
- Ensure your door thickness is between 1⅜" and 1¾" (35mm-45mm). A thick door kit is required for doors up to 2¼" (57mm).
- Verify your door has a standard backset of 2⅜" or 2¾".
- Gather necessary tools: Phillips head screwdriver, tape measure.
- Download the U-tec App from your smartphone's app store.

3.2. Physical Installation
The ULTRALOQ Z-Wave Smart Lock is designed for DIY installation. For detailed step-by-step instructions with diagrams, please refer to the dedicated Installation Manual (PDF) available on the product's support page or included in your packaging. Generally, the process involves:
- Removing your existing deadbolt.
- Installing the new deadbolt latch.
- Mounting the exterior keypad assembly.
- Installing the interior assembly and connecting cables.
- Installing the door sensor.
- Inserting the batteries.
3.3. Initial Setup (App Pairing)
After physical installation, pair your lock with the U-tec App:
- Open the U-tec App and create an account or log in.
- Follow the in-app instructions to add your new lock. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone.
- Assign a name to your lock (e.g., "Front Door"). This name will be used for voice commands.
3.4. Z-Wave Hub Integration
To enable remote control and advanced smart home features, integrate your ULTRALOQ Z-Wave Smart Lock with a compatible Z-Wave hub (e.g., Samsung SmartThings, Hubitat, Ezlo, Ring). Refer to your Z-Wave hub's instructions for adding new devices. The lock will appear as a Z-Wave device once paired.
3.5. Google Assistant Integration
To control your ULTRALOQ Smart Lock using Google Assistant, follow these steps:
- Ensure your Ultraloq Bridge (if used) is plugged in and paired with your Ultraloq lock.
- Ensure your Google Assistant device is turned on and connected to Wi-Fi.
- Ensure your smartphone is connected to Wi-Fi.
- Open the U-tec App and confirm your lock is listed and has a name (e.g., "Front Door"). This name will be used for Google Assistant commands.
- Open the Google Home App.
- Tap the User Logo (usually in the top right corner).
- Tap "More Settings".
- Tap "Assistant".
- Tap "Home control".
- Tap the "+" button to add a new device.
- Tap the Search button (magnifying glass icon).
- Search for "U-tec" and select it.
- You will be redirected to the U-tec login page. Type your U-tec username and password, then tap "Login".
- Tap "Authorize" to link U-tec with Google.
- Set a security code. Google Assistant will ask for this code when you try to unlock your Ultraloq. Tap "Set".
- U-tec will now be linked with your Google Assistant.
- In the next steps, you will choose your device location. Select your lock and follow the instructions to assign it to a home and room (e.g., "Living Room").
You are now all set. You will be able to control your Ultraloq with Google Assistant.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Unlocking/Locking Methods
- Anti-peep Keypad: Enter your passcode followed by the unlock button. You can add random digits before or after your actual code to prevent peeping.
- Smartphone App: Use the U-tec App to remotely lock or unlock your door.
- Auto Unlock: The lock automatically unlocks when you approach the door with your paired smartphone.
- Shake to Open: Shake your smartphone while near the lock to unlock it.
- Mechanical Key: Use the provided backup key for manual unlocking.

4.2. User Management
The U-tec App allows comprehensive user management:
- Share eKeys: Grant temporary or permanent access to family, guests, or service personnel.
- Manage Users: Add, modify, or delete user passcodes and access permissions.
- Log Record: View a detailed log of who entered and at what time.
- Smart Notification: Receive real-time alerts for lock activity, such as door left open or low battery.

4.3. Door Sensor Functionality
The included door sensor enhances security and convenience:
- Auto Lock: When enabled, the lock will automatically engage the deadbolt after a set period once the door is detected as closed.
- Door Left Open Alert: Receive notifications on your smartphone if the door remains open for an extended period.
- Door Status: The app displays the real-time status of your door (open, closed, locked, unlocked).

5. Maintenance
5.1. Battery Replacement
The ULTRALOQ Z-Wave Smart Lock is powered by four AA alkaline batteries. When the battery level is low, you will receive a notification via the smartphone app. To replace the batteries:
- Remove the cover of the interior assembly.
- Carefully remove the old batteries.
- Insert four new AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
- Replace the cover.

5.2. Cleaning
To maintain the appearance and functionality of your lock, clean it regularly with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish and electronic components.
