Setup

1. Battery Installation

The ICF-P27 requires two AA batteries for operation. Batteries are not included.

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the radio.
  2. Slide the cover downwards or in the direction indicated by an arrow to open it.
  3. Insert two AA batteries, ensuring the correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover, sliding it until it clicks securely into place.

2. Attaching the Hand Strap

Thread the included hand strap through the designated loop on the radio for enhanced portability and security.

Operating Instructions

1. Power On/Off and Band Selection

  • Locate the AM/FM/OFF switch on the side of the radio.
  • Slide the switch to FM for FM broadcasts or AM for AM broadcasts. The radio will power on.
  • To turn off the radio, slide the switch to OFF.

2. Tuning to a Station

  • Extend the telescoping antenna for optimal FM reception. For AM reception, the antenna is internal, but adjusting the radio's orientation may improve signal quality.
  • Rotate the TUNE dial on the side of the radio to scan through frequencies.
  • Observe the TUNE LED indicator. It will illuminate brightly when a strong signal is received, indicating accurate tuning.

3. Adjusting Volume

Rotate the VOLUME dial (often integrated with the power switch or a separate dial) to increase or decrease the sound level.

4. Using Headphones

  • Insert a 3.5mm stereo headphone plug into the headphone jack located on the side of the radio.
  • The built-in speaker will automatically mute when headphones are connected.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the radio with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Care: Remove batteries if the radio will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
  • Storage: Store the radio in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Water Exposure: This radio is not waterproof. Avoid exposure to water or high humidity.
