4. Initial Setup

Before using your Solac SIPHON BREWER for the first time, follow these steps:

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all packaging materials and inspect the appliance for any damage.
  2. Clean: Wash the upper chamber, lower carafe, permanent mesh filter, and lids with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Do not immerse the power base in water.
  3. First Use Rinse: Fill the lower carafe with water to the MAX line (0.9L). Place it on the power base. Attach the upper chamber (without coffee/tea) and ensure it is securely seated. Press the power button to initiate a boiling cycle. Discard the hot water after the cycle completes. This cleans the internal components and removes any manufacturing residues.
  4. Placement: Place the power base on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface, away from the edge of the counter.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Brewing Coffee or Tea

  1. Fill Water: Fill the lower carafe with fresh, cold water. For coffee/tea, you can fill up to the 0.9L (30 oz) MAX line.
  2. Place on Base: Place the filled lower carafe securely onto the power base.
  3. Add Grounds/Leaves: Insert the permanent mesh filter into the upper chamber. Add your desired amount of coffee grounds (medium grind recommended) or tea leaves to the upper chamber.
  4. Assemble: Carefully place the upper chamber onto the lower carafe. Ensure it is properly aligned and twisted to create a secure seal. The handles should line up when correctly seated.
  5. Start Brewing: Press the power button on the base. The indicator light will illuminate. The water in the lower carafe will begin to heat and rise into the upper chamber through the siphon tube.
  6. Brewing Process: Once the water has risen, it will mix with the coffee grounds or tea leaves. The appliance is designed to maintain the optimal brewing temperature.
  7. Completion: After the brewing cycle, the brewed liquid will automatically draw back down into the lower carafe, leaving the spent grounds/leaves in the upper chamber. The appliance will automatically shut off.
  8. Serve: Carefully remove the upper chamber. Replace it with the easy-pour lid on the lower carafe. Pour and serve your freshly brewed coffee or tea.

  6. Power Base: Wipe the exterior of the power base with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the power base in water or any other liquid.

6.2. Descaling

Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) can build up, affecting performance. Descale your appliance regularly, especially if you have hard water.

  2. Fill Carafe: Fill the lower carafe with the descaling solution up to the 0.9L MAX line.
  3. Run Cycle: Place the carafe on the power base and run a boiling cycle (without the upper chamber).
  4. Soak: After the cycle, let the solution sit in the carafe for 15-30 minutes.
  5. Rinse: Discard the solution and rinse the carafe thoroughly with fresh water several times to remove any residual descaling agent.
  6. Final Rinse Cycle: Run 2-3 cycles with fresh water only to ensure all descaling solution is flushed out.
