Setup

1. Battery Installation

The thermometer typically comes with batteries pre-installed or included in the package. If batteries need to be installed or replaced:

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover, usually on the handle.
  2. Open the cover by sliding or gently prying it off.
  3. Insert the batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

2. Initial Power-On

Press the Power/Measurement button to turn on the thermometer. The device will perform a self-test, and the display will show all segments briefly before entering standby mode, ready for measurement.

Operating Instructions

1. Selecting Measurement Mode

The TrueLife Care Q9 offers three measurement modes: Forehead, Ear, and Object/Liquid. Press the Measurement Mode Button to cycle through these options. The selected mode will be indicated on the LCD display.

  • Forehead Mode: For non-contact measurement on the forehead. The sensor cover should be attached.
  • Ear Mode: For measurement inside the ear canal. The sensor cover must be removed.
  • Object/Liquid Mode: For measuring the surface temperature of objects or liquids. The sensor cover should be attached.

2. Activating Child Mode

For accurate readings in individuals under 12 years old, activate the Child Mode. Press the Adult/Child Mode Button to switch to Child Mode. A baby icon will appear on the display to confirm activation. Press again to return to Adult Mode.

3. Performing a Measurement

  1. Power On: Press the Power/Measurement button to turn on the device.
  2. Select Mode: Choose the desired measurement mode (Forehead, Ear, or Object/Liquid) and activate Child Mode if necessary.
  3. Position Thermometer:
    • Forehead: Hold the thermometer approximately 1-3 cm from the center of the forehead.
    • Ear: Gently insert the sensor tip into the ear canal. Ensure the sensor cover is removed.
    • Object/Liquid: Point the thermometer at the surface of the object or liquid.
  4. Initiate Measurement: Press the Power/Measurement button again.
  5. Read Result: The temperature reading will appear on the LCD display within one second. The display backlight color will indicate temperature status (e.g., green for normal, orange/red for elevated/high).

4. Memory Function

The thermometer automatically stores up to 20 previous readings. To access them, press the Memory/Sound Button when the device is on. Each press will cycle through the stored readings.

5. Sound Settings

To toggle the sound (beeps for measurement completion, fever alerts), press and hold the Memory/Sound Button for a few seconds until the sound icon on the display changes.

6. Changing Temperature Unit (°C/°F)

While the thermometer is off, press and hold the Power/Measurement button for approximately 5 seconds until the unit changes from Celsius (°C) to Fahrenheit (°F) or vice versa. Release the button to confirm the selection.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning the Thermometer

  • Wipe the thermometer body with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
  • For the sensor tip, use a cotton swab lightly moistened with alcohol (70% isopropyl alcohol is recommended).
  • Ensure no liquid enters the device. Allow to air dry completely before storage or next use.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, thinners, or benzene.

2. Storage

  • Store the thermometer in its fabric case when not in use to protect the sensor.
  • Keep in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and humidity.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

3. Battery Replacement

When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace the batteries as described in the "Setup" section. Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.
