5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
2. Insert the required batteries (1 AA type) according to the polarity indicators (+/-).
3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

5.2 Powering On/Off

• To Power On: Press the [ON/MEAS] button. The laser will activate.
• To Power Off: Press and hold the [OFF] button for a few seconds. The device will also automatically power off after a period of inactivity to conserve battery life.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Basic Distance Measurement

1. Press the [ON/MEAS] button to turn on the device and activate the laser.
2. Aim the laser dot at the target point.
3. Press the [ON/MEAS] button again. The measured distance will be displayed on the screen.

6.2 Continuous Measurement (Tracking)

1. Press and hold the [ON/MEAS] button for approximately 2 seconds. The device will enter continuous measurement mode.
2. Move the device to track the distance. The display will update in real-time, showing current, maximum, and minimum distances.
3. Press the [ON/MEAS] button again to stop continuous measurement.

6.3 Area Measurement

1. Press the [FUNCTION] button until the area icon (square) appears on the display.
2. Measure the first side (length) by pressing [ON/MEAS].
3. Measure the second side (width) by pressing [ON/MEAS].
4. The device will automatically calculate and display the area.

6.4 Volume Measurement

1. Press the [FUNCTION] button until the volume icon (cube) appears on the display.
2. Measure the length by pressing [ON/MEAS].
3. Measure the width by pressing [ON/MEAS].
4. Measure the height by pressing [ON/MEAS].
5. The device will automatically calculate and display the volume.

6.5 Addition and Subtraction

The device allows for adding or subtracting measured values.

1. Perform a measurement.
2. Press the [+] button for addition or [-] button for subtraction.
3. Perform the next measurement.
4. The result of the operation will be displayed. You can continue adding or subtracting multiple measurements.

6.6 Data Storage

The LM120A can store up to 99 groups of data.

• After a measurement is taken, press the [SAVE] button to store the value.
• To recall stored data, press the [RECALL] button and use the arrow keys to navigate through the stored measurements.

• Wipe the device with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Clean the laser emission aperture and receiving lens with a soft, lint-free cloth, similar to cleaning camera lenses.

• Store the device in its carrying pouch when not in use to protect it from dust and impact.
• If storing for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
• Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
