3. Setup

3.1 System Requirements

• Operating System: Windows (up to Windows 11) or Mac OS (up to Mac OS 13.1 Ventura). Mac OS 13.2 is not currently supported.
• Available USB port (USB 3.2 Gen 1 recommended for optimal performance, compatible with USB 2.0).
• For Blu-ray movie playback, additional playback software is required and not included. Your system must meet the software's hardware requirements.

3.2 Connecting the Drive

1. Connect the provided USB-A cable to the external Blu-ray writer.
2. Connect the other end of the USB-A cable to an available USB port on your computer.
3. If your computer only has USB-C ports, use the included USB-C adapter by attaching it to the USB-A cable and then to your computer's USB-C port.
4. Ensure the connection is secure. The drive is plug-and-play and should be recognized automatically by your operating system.

Note:

• If using a USB hub, a powered USB hub is recommended to ensure sufficient power supply to the device, especially during write operations.
• For Mac OS users, ensure your operating system version is compatible.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Reading Discs (CD/DVD/Blu-ray)

1. Ensure the drive is connected to your computer.
2. Gently press the eject button on the front of the drive to open the disc tray.
3. Place the disc (CD, DVD, or Blu-ray) onto the tray with the label side facing up.
4. Gently push the tray back into the drive until it clicks shut.
5. Your computer's operating system should detect the disc. You can then access its contents through File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac).

4.2 Writing Data to Discs (CD/DVD/Blu-ray/M-Disc)

To burn data to a blank disc, you will need compatible burning software (not included). Follow these general steps:

1. Insert a blank, compatible disc into the drive.
2. Open your preferred disc burning software.
3. Select the data you wish to burn from your computer.
4. Follow the software's instructions to initiate the burning process.
5. Once the burn is complete, a notification will typically appear.

4.3 Blu-ray Movie Playback

Important: Movie playback requires dedicated playback software, which is not included with this drive.

To play Blu-ray movies, you must:

1. Acquire Blu-ray playback software from a third-party vendor (e.g., CyberLink PowerDVD, Nero, Aiseesoft, VLC, RealPlayer).
2. Verify that your computer meets the system requirements for the chosen playback software. You can use tools like CyberLink BD Advisor to check Blu-ray playback capability.
3. Install the playback software on your computer.
4. Insert the Blu-ray movie disc into the drive.
5. Launch the playback software and select the disc to begin playback.

4.4 M-Disc Archival Solution

The drive is M-Disc Ready, providing an industry-leading archival solution for long-term data storage. M-Discs are designed for extreme durability and data longevity. Use compatible M-Disc media and burning software to archive your important data.

Maximum write speeds for various disc types are:

• CD: 24X
• DVD: 8X
• Blu-ray: 6X

5. Maintenance

5.1 General Care
