2. Safety Information
Your child's safety is paramount. Always follow these safety guidelines. Failure to do so can result in serious injury or death.
- Read all instructions: Assemble the crib according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Check for damage: Periodically check the crib for damaged hardware, loose joints, missing parts, or sharp edges. Do not use the crib if any parts are missing or broken.
- Mattress size: Use only a mattress that is at least 27 1/4 inches (69 cm) by 51 5/8 inches (131 cm) with a thickness not exceeding 6 inches (15 cm). The mattress must fit snugly without gaps.
- Child's height/weight: This crib is intended for use until your child can easily climb out or is taller than 35 inches (89 cm). The maximum weight recommendation is 50 pounds.
- Avoid suffocation hazards: Do not place the crib near windows where cords from blinds or drapes could strangle a child. Do not place items with a string or cord around a child's neck, such as hood strings or pacifier cords. Do not suspend strings over a crib or attach strings to toys.
- No soft bedding: Never use plastic shipping bags or other plastic film as mattress covers. They can cause suffocation. Do not place pillows, comforters, or other soft bedding in the crib with an infant.
- GREENGUARD Gold Certified: This product has been screened for over 10,000 chemicals and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) known to pollute indoor air, contributing to a healthier nursery environment.
- JPMA Certified: Expert tested by independent laboratories to meet or exceed all applicable category voluntary and mandatory safety standards.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Mattress Height Adjustment
The Storkcraft Santa Monica crib features a 3-position adjustable mattress support base. Adjust the mattress height according to your child's developmental stage to ensure safety.
- Highest Position: For newborns and infants who cannot push up on their hands and knees. This position allows easier access to your baby.
- Middle Position: For infants who can push up on their hands and knees, or sit unassisted.
- Lowest Position: For active babies who can stand. This position prevents your child from climbing out of the crib.
To adjust the mattress height, carefully remove the mattress and mattress support. Reposition the support to the desired height and re-secure it with the appropriate hardware. Always ensure the mattress support is level and securely fastened before placing your child in the crib.

- Toddler Bed: Remove the front side rail and install the toddler guardrail (sold separately).
- Daybed: Remove the front side rail. No guardrail is used for this configuration.
- Full-Size Bed: Remove both side rails and the mattress support. Attach the headboard and footboard to a full-size bed frame using the full-size conversion kit (sold separately).

6. Maintenance and Care
Proper care will extend the life and safety of your Storkcraft Santa Monica crib.
- Cleaning: Wipe with a damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or strong chemicals that could damage the finish.
- Regular Inspection: Periodically check all screws, bolts, and hardware to ensure they are tight. Retighten as necessary.
- Storage: If storing the crib, do so in a dry, temperature-controlled environment to prevent warping or damage.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with your crib, please refer to these common solutions:
- Loose Parts: If any parts feel loose, gently tighten the corresponding screws or bolts. Do not overtighten.
- Squeaking: Check all connections and ensure they are tight. A small amount of silicone lubricant can be applied to metal-on-metal contact points if squeaking persists.
- Missing Hardware: If you are missing any hardware, contact Storkcraft customer service for replacement parts. Do not substitute with non-manufacturer parts.
