Zoomable Flash Head

Setup

1. Battery Installation

  1. Ensure the flash unit is powered off.
  2. Locate the battery compartment on the side of the flash unit.
  3. Slide the battery compartment cover open.
  4. Insert the VB26 Li-Ion battery, aligning the contacts correctly.
  5. Close the battery compartment cover until it clicks securely into place.

2. Charging the Battery

  1. Connect the battery charger to a power outlet.
  2. Insert the VB26 battery into the charger.
  3. The charging indicator on the charger will show the charging status. Charge until the indicator shows a full charge.
  4. Disconnect the charger once charging is complete.

3. Mounting the Flash on a Camera

  1. Ensure both the camera and flash unit are powered off.
  2. Slide the flash's mounting foot into your camera's hot shoe.
  3. Rotate the locking ring or lever on the flash unit clockwise until it is securely fastened to the hot shoe. Do not overtighten.

Operating Instructions

1. Power On/Off

  • To power on, slide the power switch to the 'ON' position.
  • To power off, slide the power switch to the 'OFF' position.

2. TTL Automatic Flash Mode

  • Press the 'TTL/M' quick switch button to select TTL mode. The LCD display will show 'TTL'.
  • In TTL mode, the flash output is automatically adjusted by the camera to achieve correct exposure.
  • You can adjust Flash Exposure Compensation (FEC) using the control dial to fine-tune exposure.

3. Manual Flash Mode

  • Press the 'TTL/M' quick switch button to select Manual mode. The LCD display will show 'M'.
  • In Manual mode, you set the flash output power manually. Use the control dial to adjust the power from 1/1 (full power) to 1/256 (minimum power).

4. Wireless Flash Operation

The V860III supports both optical and 2.4G wireless transmission for off-camera flash control.

  • 2.4G Wireless Mode: Press the 'SYNC' button to enter wireless mode. Use the control dial and function buttons to set the flash as a Master or Slave unit, select channels, and groups. Refer to the detailed wireless section in the full manual for advanced settings.
  • Optical Pulse Mode: This mode uses light pulses for communication. Ensure a clear line of sight between the master and slave units.

5. Adjusting Flash Settings

  • Zoom: Press the 'ZOOM' button and use the control dial to manually adjust the flash head's zoom position.
  • Modeling Light: Press the dedicated modeling light button to turn it on/off and use the control dial to adjust its brightness.
  • High-Speed Sync (HSS): Activate HSS through the camera's flash menu or the flash unit's settings if supported by your camera model.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the flash unit. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Do not use strong detergents or solvents.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, remove the battery and store the flash unit in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Care: Recharge the battery regularly, even if not in use, to maintain its lifespan. Avoid fully discharging the battery.
