Setup
Unpacking and Initial Inspection
Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all items listed in the "What's in the Box" section are present and undamaged. If any items are missing or damaged, contact your retailer immediately.

Mounting the Flash Unit
- Attach the flash unit to a sturdy light stand using the mounting bracket. Ensure the locking knob is securely tightened.
- Remove the protective cap from the flash tube.
- If using a light modifier (e.g., softbox, reflector), align its Bowens mount with the flash unit's mount and rotate until it locks into place.
Power Connection
- Connect the power cable to the AC input port on the rear of the flash unit.
- Plug the other end of the power cable into a suitable 110V AC power outlet.
Operating Instructions
Powering On/Off
To power on the unit, flip the power switch located on the rear control panel to the "ON" position. The LCD display will illuminate. To power off, flip the switch to the "OFF" position.
Adjusting Flash Power
Rotate the SET dial on the control panel to adjust the flash power output. The power can be set from 1/64 to 1/1 in precise increments. The current power setting will be displayed on the LCD screen.

Modeling Lamp Control
Press the MODEL button to cycle through the modeling lamp modes:
- OFF: Modeling lamp is off.
- PROP (Proportional): Modeling lamp brightness adjusts proportionally to the flash power setting.
- Percentage: Modeling lamp brightness can be set to a specific percentage.
Wireless X System Operation
The DP800III features a built-in 2.4G Godox Wireless X System for remote control.
- Setting Group and Channel: Press the GR/CH button to switch between group and channel settings. Rotate the SET dial to select the desired group (0-9, A-F) and channel (1-32). Ensure your Godox X system transmitter is set to the same group and channel.
- Setting Wireless ID: Press the C.Fn button to access custom functions, then navigate to the wireless ID setting. Rotate the SET dial to select an ID from 01-99. This helps prevent interference when multiple Godox systems are in use nearby.
- Optical Slave Modes (S1/S2): Press the S1/S2 button to activate optical slave modes.
- S1 Mode: The flash will fire in response to a single flash from another manual flash.
- S2 Mode: The flash will ignore the pre-flash of a TTL flash and fire on the main flash.

Test Flash and Recycle Time
Press the TEST button to fire a test flash. The unit will then begin recycling. The recycle indicator will light up when the unit is ready to fire again. The DP800III boasts a fast recycle time of approximately 1 second at full power.

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the flash unit. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
- Flash Tube: The flash tube is a consumable part. If it becomes discolored or fails to fire, it may need replacement. Consult an authorized service center for flash tube replacement.
- Storage: When not in use, store the flash unit in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and excessive humidity. Reattach the protective cap to the flash tube.
- Ventilation: Regularly check that the ventilation openings are clear of dust and debris to ensure proper heat dissipation.
