5. Setup and Installation

The Start-X Remote Start Kit is designed for a plug-and-play installation, requiring no wire cutting or splicing. Installation typically takes approximately 5-15 minutes.

5.1 Pre-Installation Checklist

  • Ensure your vehicle is turned off and the key is removed from the ignition (if applicable).
  • Gather necessary tools: typically none are required beyond your hands, but a trim removal tool may be helpful for accessing panels.
  • Verify all package contents are present.

5.2 Installation Steps

  1. Locate Vehicle Connectors: Identify the vehicle's wiring harness connector located to the right of the steering column, typically further up under the dash. Refer to your vehicle's service manual if needed.
  2. Connect T-Harness: Disconnect the factory connector from its port. Connect the Start-X T-Harness in-line with the factory wiring. One end of the T-Harness connects to the vehicle's port, and the other end connects to the factory connector you just removed.
  3. Connect Module: Plug the Start-X remote start module into the designated connector on the T-Harness.
  4. Program the Module: Follow the specific programming instructions provided with your kit. This usually involves a sequence of key turns or button presses to synchronize the module with your vehicle's system. The module's LED indicators will guide you through this process.
  5. Secure Wiring: Once the module is programmed and connections are confirmed, use the provided zip ties to secure the module and excess wiring, ensuring they do not interfere with pedals or moving parts.
