5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Functionality

The CPVAN Motion Detector Alarm operates on the principle of infrared motion detection. When a moving object enters the detection area, the alarm will trigger, emitting a 125 dB siren or a loud chime, depending on the selected mode. This is effective for alerting you to the presence of intruders or visitors.

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the bottom of the alarm unit.
  2. Unscrew the child safety screw to open the compartment.
  3. Remove the old AA batteries and insert three new AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
  4. Close the battery compartment and secure it with the child safety screw.

7. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your CPVAN Motion Detector Alarm.

7.1 Alarm Not Functioning / Weak Siren

  • Check Battery Level: If the alarm is emitting a ticking sound, the batteries are low and need to be replaced. Refer to Section 6.1 for battery replacement instructions.
  • Power Source: Ensure that if using wired power, the 5V/1A adapter is correctly connected and functioning.

7.2 False Alarms

  • Sensor Placement: Ensure the alarm is not placed near heat sources, direct sunlight, or areas with significant air currents (e.g., near vents or open windows) that could cause false triggers.
  • Obstructions: Verify that there are no objects intermittently blocking the detection window.
