Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to install and set up your PowMr WLAN Module:

  1. Prepare the Inverter: Ensure your compatible PowMr hybrid inverter is powered off and disconnected from all AC and DC power sources. This is crucial for safety.
  2. Locate Communication Port: Identify the communication port on your inverter. This is typically an RS232 or similar serial port. Refer to your inverter's manual for its exact location.
  3. Connect the Module: Connect the provided communication cable to the WLAN module's port and then to the corresponding communication port on your inverter. Ensure a secure connection.
  4. Secure the Module: The module may have mounting holes. If applicable, secure the module to a stable surface near the inverter using appropriate fasteners (not included) to prevent accidental disconnection or damage.
  5. Power On Inverter: Once the module is securely connected, you may re-apply power to your inverter.
  6. Initial Wi-Fi Configuration:
    • Download the official PowMr monitoring application to your smartphone or tablet.
    • Follow the in-app instructions to connect the WLAN module to your home or office Wi-Fi network. This typically involves scanning a QR code on the module or entering network credentials.
    • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz, as most IoT devices are not compatible with 5GHz networks.

Operating Instructions

Once the WLAN module is successfully connected to your Wi-Fi network and linked to your inverter, you can begin monitoring its performance remotely.

  • Remote Monitoring: Use the PowMr monitoring application to view real-time data from your inverter, such as input voltage, output power, battery status, and operational mode.
  • Data Logging: The application may provide historical data logging, allowing you to track performance trends over time.
  • Alerts and Notifications: Configure the application to receive alerts for critical events or system status changes.

For detailed instructions on using the monitoring application, refer to the application's built-in help section or the PowMr official website.

Maintenance

The PowMr WLAN Module requires minimal maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure its longevity:

  • Cleaning: Gently wipe the module with a dry, soft cloth to remove dust. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Environment: Ensure the module is kept in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the PowMr monitoring application or website for any available firmware updates for the WLAN module. Keeping the firmware updated can improve performance and add new features.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your WLAN module, refer to the following common solutions:

ProblemPossible Cause / Solution
Module not connecting to Wi-Fi or going offline after registration.

This often occurs if an accidental "space" character is added to the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) during the connection process, especially when selecting from a list where auto-fill might add it.

Solution: When entering or selecting your Wi-Fi network name in the application, carefully check for and remove any leading or trailing spaces. Ensure the SSID is entered precisely as it appears.

No data displayed in the monitoring application.
  • Verify the WLAN module is securely connected to the inverter's communication port.
  • Ensure the inverter is powered on and operating correctly.
  • Check your internet connection and Wi-Fi signal strength at the module's location.
  • Restart both the inverter and the WLAN module (by temporarily disconnecting and reconnecting power to the inverter).
Application shows "Device Offline".
  • Confirm your home router is functioning and broadcasting Wi-Fi.
  • Check if the Wi-Fi password has been changed. If so, reconfigure the module's Wi-Fi settings via the app.
  • Ensure the module is within range of your Wi-Fi router.

If the problem persists, contact PowMr customer support for further assistance.
