Setup and Installation

Pre-Installation Check

  • Ensure the water supply valve is turned off.
  • Remove any existing toilet and clean the flange area thoroughly.
  • Verify your rough-in measurement. This toilet is designed for a 10-inch rough-in.

Installation Steps

  1. Prepare the Flange: Install the included wax ring onto the toilet's waste outlet or directly onto the floor flange. Ensure a proper seal.
  2. Position the Toilet: Carefully lower the toilet onto the floor bolts, aligning the bolt holes with the bolts. Press down firmly to compress the wax ring and create a watertight seal.
  3. Secure the Toilet: Place washers and nuts onto the floor bolts. Hand-tighten the nuts, then use a wrench to tighten them evenly, alternating sides, until the toilet is secure. Do not overtighten, as this can crack the ceramic.
  4. Install Bolt Covers: Snap the bolt access covers (SM-TPT10) over the tightened nuts.
  5. Connect Water Supply: Connect the water supply line to the toilet's fill valve. Hand-tighten, then use a wrench for a quarter turn. Do not overtighten.
  6. Install Seat: Attach the soft-close, quick-release toilet seat (SM-QRS54) according to its specific instructions.
  7. Install Flush Button: Place the dual-flush push button (SM-TPT16) onto the tank lid and then place the lid (SM-TTL54) onto the toilet tank.
  8. Test Flush: Turn on the water supply and allow the tank to fill. Perform several test flushes to check for leaks and proper operation.

Operating Instructions

Dual-Flush System

Your Swiss Madison St. Tropez toilet features a dual-flush system designed for water conservation. The flush button on top of the tank lid has two options:

  • Small Button: Activates a 1.1 gallons per flush (GPF) for liquid waste, conserving water.
  • Large Button: Activates a 1.6 gallons per flush (GPF) for solid waste, providing a powerful flush.

Vortex™ Flush Technology

The toilet utilizes Vortex™ flush technology with powerful dual nozzles. This design creates a cyclonic rinsing action that cleans the entire bowl surface more effectively than standard rim holes, ensuring a cleaner bowl with each flush.

Maintenance and Cleaning

General Cleaning

  • Clean the ceramic surfaces regularly with a soft cloth, mild soap, and water.
  • Avoid abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish.
  • For bowl cleaning, use a toilet brush and a non-abrasive toilet bowl cleaner.

Soft-Close, Quick-Release Seat

The soft-close feature prevents slamming and reduces wear. For thorough cleaning, the seat can be easily removed:

  1. Open the seat and lid to a vertical position.
  2. Locate the quick-release buttons or tabs near the hinges.
  3. Press the buttons/tabs and lift the seat straight up to detach it from the toilet.
  4. Clean the seat and the toilet rim area.
  5. To reattach, align the seat hinges with the posts and press down until it clicks into place.

Fully Glazed & Skirted Trapway

The fully skirted design and glazed trapway simplify cleaning the exterior and interior of the toilet. The smooth, seamless surface of the skirted bowl prevents dust and debris accumulation, while the glazed trapway helps prevent clogs and ensures efficient waste removal.
