Setup
Initial Winding
Before setting the time and date, ensure the watch has sufficient power reserve. As an automatic watch, it winds itself with wrist movement. However, for initial use or after a period of inactivity, it is recommended to manually wind the watch.
- Ensure the crown is in position 0 (fully pushed in).
- Turn the crown clockwise approximately 30-40 times. This will provide enough power to start the watch and build up the power reserve.
Setting Time, Day, and Date
The watch features a hacking function, meaning the second hand stops when the crown is pulled out to the time-setting position, allowing for precise synchronization.
- Setting the Date: Pull the crown out to position 1. Turn the crown clockwise to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM, as this can damage the movement. If the current time falls within this period, first set the time outside this range, then set the date, and finally reset the time.
- Setting the Day: In crown position 1, turn the crown counter-clockwise to adjust the day.
- Setting the Time: Pull the crown out to position 2. The second hand will stop (hacking function). Turn the crown to set the hour and minute hands. To ensure the correct AM/PM for the 24-hour sub-dial, advance the hands past 12 o'clock to see if the date changes. If it does, you are in the AM hours. Continue to advance until the correct time is displayed.
- Once set, push the crown back into position 0 (fully pushed in) to restart the second hand and ensure water resistance.

Operating
Automatic Winding
Your Orient RA-AK03 watch is powered by an automatic movement. This means that the natural motion of your wrist while wearing the watch will wind the mainspring, providing power to the movement. For optimal performance, wear the watch regularly. If the watch is not worn for an extended period, it may stop, requiring manual winding or wearing to restart.
Power Reserve
The F6B24 movement has a power reserve of approximately 40 hours when fully wound. If the watch is left unworn, it will run down after this period. To restart, manually wind the watch or wear it for several hours.
Water Resistance
This watch is water-resistant to 50 meters (165 feet). This rating makes it suitable for short periods of recreational swimming. It is not suitable for diving, snorkeling, or prolonged water immersion. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in before any contact with water. Avoid operating the crown or pushers while the watch is wet or submerged.
Maintenance
Cleaning
To maintain the appearance of your watch, wipe the case and sapphire crystal with a soft, dry cloth regularly. For the leather strap, avoid excessive moisture and harsh chemicals. If the watch comes into contact with saltwater, rinse it gently with fresh water and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.
Storage
When not wearing your watch for an extended period, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and strong magnetic fields. A watch box or pouch is ideal for protection.
Service
Mechanical watches require periodic servicing to ensure accurate timekeeping and proper function. It is recommended to have your Orient watch serviced by an authorized service center every 3-5 years. Do not attempt to open the watch case yourself, as this will void the warranty and may damage the movement.
