Safety Information
Operating a remote-controlled vehicle requires attention to safety to prevent accidents and damage. Always follow these guidelines:
- Adult Supervision: This product is recommended for users aged 14 and above. Adult supervision is required for younger operators.
- Operating Environment: Operate the vehicle in open areas, away from people, pets, and obstacles. Avoid public roads, crowded areas, and water bodies unless the vehicle is specifically designed for aquatic use.
- Battery Safety: Use only recommended batteries and chargers. Improper battery handling can lead to fire, explosion, or injury. Never leave charging batteries unattended.
- Moving Parts: Keep hands, hair, and loose clothing away from moving parts such as wheels, gears, and drive shafts.
- Heat: The motor and electronic speed control (ESC) can become very hot during operation. Avoid touching them immediately after use.
- Chemicals: Keep all chemicals, such as lubricants and cleaning agents, out of reach of children.
Setup
1. Transmitter Battery Installation
The TQi 2.4GHz transmitter requires 4 AA (LR6) alkaline batteries for operation. Ensure correct polarity when inserting the batteries.
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the transmitter.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert 4 AA batteries, matching the (+) and (-) indicators.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
2. Vehicle Battery Installation (Battery and Charger Sold Separately)
The Traxxas MAXX 4X4 WideMaxx is designed to accommodate powerful LiPo batteries. Refer to your battery and charger manuals for specific instructions. Recommended batteries are Traxxas LiPo 4-cell 6700mAh (2890X or 2889X) and charger (2971GX).
Important: Always ensure the vehicle is turned OFF before installing or removing the battery.
- Remove the body clips and lift the vehicle body.
- Open the battery compartment latch.
- Carefully insert the charged battery into the compartment.
- Secure the battery compartment latch.
- Connect the battery to the Electronic Speed Control (ESC) connector.
- Reattach the vehicle body and secure with body clips.
3. Battery Charging
Use a compatible LiPo charger for your battery. The following video demonstrates the charging process for a 2S/3S LiPo battery using a B3 AC Compact Charger. Note: This video is for a generic charger and battery, not specific Traxxas products. Always follow the instructions provided with your specific battery and charger.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your Traxxas MAXX 4X4 WideMaxx.
After Each Run:
- Clean the Vehicle: Remove dirt, mud, and debris from the chassis, suspension, and wheels. Use a soft brush or compressed air.
- Inspect for Damage: Check for any loose screws, bent parts, or damaged components. Pay close attention to the suspension, drive shafts, and steering linkages.
- Battery Care: Disconnect and remove the battery. Store LiPo batteries in a safe, cool place, ideally in a LiPo-safe bag, and at storage voltage if not used for extended periods.
Periodic Maintenance:
- Lubrication: Lubricate moving parts such as universal joints and bearings with appropriate RC-grade lubricant.
- Shock Absorbers: Check the shock absorbers for leaks and proper damping. Refill or replace shock oil as needed.
- Tire Inspection: Inspect tires for wear and tear. Replace if significantly worn or damaged to maintain optimal traction.
- Gear Mesh: Ensure proper gear mesh between the pinion and spur gear to prevent premature wear.
