3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Attaching Adapter Rings to Your Lens

1. Identify the filter thread size of your camera lens. The matte box includes Φ67mm, Φ72mm, Φ77mm, and Φ82mm adapter rings.
2. Select the appropriate adapter ring for your lens.
3. Screw the chosen adapter ring onto the front filter thread of your lens until secure.

3.2 Mounting the Matte Box to the Lens

1. Align the 95mm opening of the matte box with the adapter ring on your lens.
2. Push the matte box onto the adapter ring until it clicks into place. Ensure it is firmly seated.
3. For cinema lenses with a 95mm outer diameter, the matte box can be directly mounted without an adapter ring.

3.3 Inserting and Removing Filters

The matte box supports one 4 x 5.65" plug-in filter (up to 4mm thick) and circular filters up to Φ92.5mm.

1. For 4 x 5.65" Filters: The matte box comes with a built-in filter tray. To insert a filter, gently pull the filter tray out from the side of the matte box. Place your 4 x 5.65" filter into the tray, ensuring it sits flush. Slide the tray back into the matte box until it clicks securely.
2. For Circular Filters: The adapter rings are designed to accommodate circular CPL, ND, or other filters up to Φ92.5mm. These filters screw directly into the front of the adapter ring before the matte box is attached, or can be inserted into the matte box's circular slot if it has one.

4. Operating the Matte Box

4.1 Adjusting the Carbon Fiber Top Flag

The carbon fiber top flag is designed to block veiling glare or bright reflections from striking your lens. It is adjustable to suit various lighting conditions.

• To adjust the flag, loosen the small knob located at the base of the flag.
• Position the flag to effectively block unwanted light. The flag can be adjusted up to 180 degrees.
• Tighten the knob to secure the flag in your desired position.
• When not in use, the flag can be folded down to cover the front of the matte box, providing protection to the front of your lens and any installed filters.
