2. Product Features
The maXpeedingrods Street Performance T6 Series Coilovers incorporate several key features for optimal performance and adjustability:
- Street Performance T6 Series: Optimized for street driving, featuring an upgraded damper knob for easier adjustment, high-quality damping oil with improved viscosity, and upgraded full aluminum plates. This series aims to balance comfort, speed, and safety.
- 24 Levels Adjustable Damper: Allows precise tuning of damping force to suit various driving conditions and preferences.
- Adjustable Height: Thread-type ride height adjustment provides 1-3 inches of lowering (does not retain original ride height), allowing for a more aggressive stance and improved vehicle dynamics. This design helps eliminate turning noise and enhances steering feel and response.
- High Tensile Springs: Front springs rated at 7 kg/mm (392 lbs/in) and rear springs at 6 kg/mm (336 lbs/in). The springs are manufactured from race-grade 55CrSi spring steel and undergo continuous stress testing to ensure supreme strength and reliability.
- Adjustable Camber Plates: Front coilovers feature adjustable camber plates to fine-tune wheel alignment.
- 6061-T6 Billet Aluminum Components: Perches and locking rings are made from lightweight and rust-resistant 6061-T6 Billet Aluminum.
- Radial Bearing Upper Spring Seat: Designed for faster response and reduced noise.
- Full-Length Dust Boots: Protect the damper shaft from contaminants, extending product lifespan.

3. Setup and Installation
Installation of coilovers requires specialized tools and automotive knowledge. It is highly recommended that installation be performed by a qualified professional mechanic.
3.1 Safety Precautions
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses and gloves.
- Ensure the vehicle is securely supported on jack stands or a lift before beginning any work. Never rely solely on a jack.
- Disconnect the vehicle's battery before working on any electrical components.
- Exercise caution when handling springs, as they are under tension. Use appropriate spring compressors if necessary for disassembly of original components.
- Refer to your vehicle's service manual for specific torque specifications for all fasteners.
3.2 General Installation Steps (Summary)
- Safely lift and support the vehicle. Remove the wheels.
- Carefully remove the original suspension components (struts, springs, shocks).
- Assemble the new maXpeedingrods coilovers according to the included detailed instructions. Ensure all components are correctly oriented and tightened.
- Install the new coilover assemblies onto the vehicle. Secure all mounting bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
- Reinstall the wheels and carefully lower the vehicle.
- Perform initial ride height and damping adjustments (refer to Section 4).
- After installation, a professional wheel alignment is mandatory to ensure proper handling and tire wear.
For detailed, step-by-step installation instructions, please refer to the separate installation manual included with your coilover kit.
4. Operating and Adjustment
Your maXpeedingrods coilovers offer adjustable damping and ride height, allowing you to fine-tune your vehicle's performance and appearance.
4.1 Damping Adjustment (24 Levels)
The coilovers feature 24 distinct levels of damping force adjustment. This allows you to customize the stiffness of your suspension from soft to hard. The adjustment knob is located at the top of the coilover shaft.
- Levels 0-8: Recommended for street use, providing a softer, more comfortable ride.
- Levels 9-16: Recommended for mountain roads or spirited driving, offering a balanced performance.
- Levels 17-24: Recommended for race tracks, providing maximum stiffness for aggressive driving and reduced body roll.
To Adjust Damping:
- Locate the adjuster knob on the top of each coilover.
- If present, remove the protective cap from the knob.
- Rotate the knob using a spanner wrench (provided) or by hand. Rotate towards 'Soft' for less damping (softer ride) and towards 'Hard' for more damping (stiffer ride).
- Ensure all four coilovers are set to the same damping level for balanced handling, or adjust front/rear bias as desired for specific driving conditions.

Figure 4.1: Damper adjuster knob, showing the rotation direction for softer or harder damping settings. Adjustment can be made by hand or with a spanner after removing the cap.
4.2 Ride Height Adjustment
The coilovers allow for a lowering range of 1-3 inches from the stock ride height. This adjustment is achieved via the threaded lower mount.
To Adjust Ride Height:
- Safely lift and support the vehicle to relieve pressure on the suspension.
- Using the provided spanner wrenches, loosen the locking rings on the coilover body.
- Rotate the lower mount to raise or lower the vehicle. Rotate clockwise to lower the vehicle, and counter-clockwise to raise it.
- Ensure that the ride height is adjusted equally on both sides of the vehicle (front and rear axles) to maintain balance.
- Once the desired height is achieved, securely tighten the locking rings using the spanner wrenches.
- Lower the vehicle and bounce the suspension to settle it. Re-measure the ride height.
- After any ride height adjustment, a professional wheel alignment is essential to correct camber, caster, and toe settings.

Figure 4.3: Visual representation of how the coilover allows for height adjustment, showing a 'lower' and 'higher' setting.
4.3 Camber Adjustment
The front coilovers are equipped with adjustable camber plates. Camber adjustment should only be performed by a qualified technician during a professional wheel alignment. Incorrect camber settings can lead to uneven tire wear and compromised handling.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and performance of your maXpeedingrods coilovers.
- Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect the coilovers for any signs of wear, damage, leaks (from the damper body), or corrosion. Check the condition of the dust boots for tears or cracks.
- Cleaning: Keep the coilovers clean, especially the threaded sections and damper shafts. Dirt and debris can hinder adjustment and accelerate wear. Use mild soap and water, then rinse thoroughly.
- Fastener Check: After the initial installation and after approximately 500-1000 miles of driving, re-check the torque of all mounting bolts and locking rings. Loose fasteners can lead to noise and unsafe operation.
- Dust Boot Integrity: Ensure the full-length dust boots are intact and properly seated to protect the damper shafts from road grime and debris.
- Alignment Checks: If you notice uneven tire wear or changes in handling, have your wheel alignment checked by a professional.
6. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your coilovers.
| Symptom | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Clunking or knocking noises | Loose mounting bolts Worn bushings Components contacting chassis Damaged top hat/bearing | Check and re-torque all mounting bolts. Inspect bushings for wear and replace if necessary. Verify proper clearance around coilover. Inspect top hat and radial bearing for damage. |
| Squeaking noises | Dry bushings Spring binding Dirt/debris in spring seats | Lubricate bushings with appropriate grease. Inspect spring for proper seating and rotation. Clean spring seats and threads. |
| Uneven ride height | Incorrect height adjustment Damaged spring or damper | Re-measure and adjust ride height on both sides of the vehicle. Inspect springs for cracks or deformation; check dampers for leaks. |
| Poor handling or excessive body roll | Incorrect damping settings Improper wheel alignment Damaged damper | Adjust damping to a stiffer setting (refer to Section 4.1). Have a professional wheel alignment performed. Inspect dampers for leaks or loss of function. |
| Damper leaking oil | Seal failure Physical damage | A leaking damper indicates internal failure and requires replacement. Contact customer support. |
