Important Safeguards

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including:

• Read all instructions before use.
• Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
• To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or the appliance in water or other liquid.
• Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
• Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.

• The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
• Do not use outdoors.
• Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
• Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
• Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to "off", then remove plug from wall outlet.
• Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
• Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot liquids.

Setup

Before First Use:

1. Unpack the coffee maker and remove all packaging materials.
2. Wipe the exterior of the unit with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the unit in water.
3. Wash the reusable filter (if applicable) and drip tray in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
4. Perform a cleansing brew cycle:
   • Fill the water reservoir with fresh water up to the MAX fill line.
   • Place an empty mug on the drip tray.
   • Close the lid without inserting a K-Cup or ground coffee filter.
   • Press the brew button. The unit will dispense hot water.
   • Discard the hot water. Repeat this process 2-3 times to ensure the unit is clean.

Operating Instructions

Brewing with K-Cups:

1. Lift the lid of the coffee maker.
2. Fill the water reservoir with fresh water to your desired brew volume (6 to 14 oz). Refer to the water level markings.
3. Insert a K-Cup pod into the K-Cup holder. Ensure it is seated correctly.
4. Close the lid firmly until it clicks.
5. Place your mug on the drip tray.
6. Press the brew button. The indicator light will illuminate, and brewing will begin.
7. Once brewing is complete, the indicator light will turn off. Carefully remove your mug.
8. Dispose of the used K-Cup pod.

Brewing with Ground Coffee:

1. Lift the lid of the coffee maker.
2. Fill the water reservoir with fresh water to your desired brew volume (6 to 14 oz).
3. Open the reusable filter and add your desired amount of ground coffee (up to 3.5 tablespoons). Do not overfill.
4. Close the reusable filter securely and place it into the K-Cup holder.
5. Close the lid firmly until it clicks.
6. Place your mug on the drip tray.
7. Press the brew button. The indicator light will illuminate, and brewing will begin.
8. Once brewing is complete, the indicator light will turn off. Carefully remove your mug.
9. Remove and clean the reusable filter after each use.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Daily Cleaning:

• Always unplug the coffee maker before cleaning and allow it to cool completely.
• Remove and empty the drip tray. Wash it with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
• If using the reusable filter, remove and rinse it under running water. Wash with soapy water as needed.
• Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.

Self-Cleaning Function:

The InstaCoffee Max features a self-cleaning function to prevent mineral buildup. To activate:

1. Ensure the unit is empty and no K-Cup or reusable filter is inserted.
2. Fill the water reservoir to the MAX fill line with fresh water.
3. Place an empty mug on the drip tray.
4. Press and hold the brew button for 3 seconds. The unit will begin a cleaning cycle, dispensing hot water.
5. Once the cycle is complete, discard the water.

Descaling (Monthly or as needed):

Mineral deposits can affect performance. Descale your coffee maker regularly:

1. Prepare a descaling solution: Mix 1 part white vinegar with 2 parts water.
2. Fill the water reservoir with the descaling solution up to the MAX fill line.
3. Place an empty mug on the drip tray.
4. Run a brew cycle without a K-Cup or ground coffee.
5. After the cycle, let the unit sit for 30 minutes with the solution inside.
6. Run another brew cycle to dispense the remaining solution.
7. Rinse thoroughly by running 2-3 cycles with fresh water only.
