1. Product Overview

The BLACK DIAMOND Astro 300 Headlamp is a compact and lightweight lighting solution designed for various outdoor activities and general use. It provides reliable illumination with multiple light modes and adjustable features for optimal visibility.

2. Setup

2.1 Battery Installation

The Astro 300 Headlamp operates on 3x AAA batteries (included). It is also compatible with the BD 1500 rechargeable Li-ion battery and charger, which are sold separately.

1. Locate the battery compartment on the side of the headlamp unit.
2. Gently open the battery compartment latch.
3. Insert 3x AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
4. Close the battery compartment securely until the latch clicks into place.

2.2 Headband Adjustment

The elastic headband is adjustable to ensure a comfortable and secure fit for various head sizes or when worn over headwear like helmets.

1. Place the headlamp on your head.
2. Use the adjustable buckles on the side straps to tighten or loosen the headband until it feels snug but not too tight.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Power On/Off and Mode Selection

The Astro 300 features a simple one-button interface for operation.

• To Turn On/Off: Press the power button once.
• To Cycle Modes: With the headlamp on, press the power button repeatedly to cycle through full strength, dimming, and strobe settings.

3.2 Brightness Adjustment (PowerTap Technology)

The headlamp incorporates PowerTap Technology for instant brightness adjustments and Brightness Memory to recall your last setting.

• PowerTap: Tap the side of the headlamp (where the PowerTap icon is located) to instantly switch between maximum output and dimmed power.
• Dimming: To fine-tune brightness, press and hold the power button while the light is on. The brightness will cycle up or down. Release the button at your desired brightness level.
• Brightness Memory: The headlamp will turn on at the last brightness setting used, even after being turned off.

3.3 Light Angle Adjustment

The headlamp unit can be tilted up or down to direct the light precisely where needed.

• Grasp the headlamp unit and gently pivot it to the desired angle. The mechanism is designed to hold its position during use.

4. Maintenance

4.1 General Care

• Keep the headlamp clean and free from dirt and debris.
• Store in a cool, dry place when not in use.
• Remove batteries if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage.

4.2 Water Resistance

The Astro 300 Headlamp is IPX4 Stormproof, meaning it is protected against splashing water from any direction. It is not designed for submersion.

• Ensure the battery compartment is securely closed to maintain water resistance.
• If the headlamp gets wet, wipe it dry before storing.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Light Not Turning On

• Check if the batteries are inserted correctly with the proper polarity.
• Replace old batteries with fresh ones.
• Ensure the battery compartment is fully closed.

5.2 Dim or Flickering Light

• Batteries may be low; replace them.
• Ensure battery contacts are clean and free of corrosion.
