2. Setup Guide

Follow these steps to set up your VONETS VAP11G-300 device. Ensure you have a stable power source and an Ethernet-enabled device for initial configuration.

2.1. Initial Connection and Power-On

  1. Unpack the Device: Carefully remove the VONETS VAP11G-300 from its packaging. The package typically includes the VAP11G-300 device, an Ethernet cable, and a power cable (USB or DC option).
  2. Identify MAC Address: Locate the MAC address on the back of the device. This may be needed for certain configurations.
  3. Connect Power: Connect the device to a 5V/2A power supply using the provided USB or DC cable. A typical 5V/2A power supply is recommended for stable operation. Observe the LED indicators for power confirmation.

2.2. Configuration via Computer

  1. Connect to Computer: Connect the VAP11G-300 to your computer's Ethernet port using an Ethernet cable.
  2. Access Configuration Page: Open a web browser and enter the configured domain http://vonets.cfg or the IP address 192.168.254.254.
  3. Login: Enter the default User ID and password, which are both "admin". Click "Login".
  4. Scan Hotspots: Navigate to the "Scan Hotspots" section. The device will search for available WiFi networks.
  5. Select WiFi Hotspot: Choose your desired WiFi hotspot from the list and click "Next".
  6. Enter Password: Input the password for the selected WiFi hotspot.
  7. Apply and Reboot: Click "Apply" to save the settings, then click "Reboot" or power off the device. The device will take approximately 1 minute to reboot. Wait until the LED light flashes normally, indicating successful configuration.

2.3. Configuration via Smartphone

  1. Find MAC Address: Locate the MAC address on the back of your VAP11G-300 device.
  2. Connect to Device's WiFi: On your smartphone, connect to the WiFi SSID of the VAP11G-300. The SSID format is typically VONETS_2.4G_XXXX (where XXXX is part of the MAC address). The default password is 12345678.
  3. Access Configuration Page: Open a web browser on your smartphone and enter the configured domain http://vonets.cfg or the IP address 192.168.254.254.
  4. Login: Enter the default User ID and password, both are "admin". Tap "Login".
  5. Scan Hotspots: Navigate to the "Scan Hotspots" section. The device will search for available WiFi networks.
  6. Select WiFi Hotspot: Choose your desired WiFi hotspot from the list and tap "Next".
  7. Enter Password: Input the password for the selected WiFi hotspot.
  8. Apply and Reboot: Tap "Apply" to save the settings, then tap "Reboot" or power off the device. The device will take approximately 1 minute to reboot. Wait until the LED light flashes normally, indicating successful configuration.

3. Operating Modes

The VONETS VAP11G-300 supports three primary operating modes to suit various networking needs:

3.1. WiFi Smart Bridge Mode

In Bridge mode, the VAP11G-300 converts a WiFi signal into an Ethernet connection, allowing wired devices to access the internet wirelessly. It can also convert a wired connection to WiFi.

  • Function: Connects Ethernet-only devices (e.g., DVRs, IP cameras, smart TVs) to a wireless network.
