1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your SCULPFUN S6 Pro, S9, or S9 Pro Large Area Expansion Kit. This kit extends the engraving area to 410 x 950mm, significantly increasing the working space of your laser engraver. Please read this manual thoroughly before beginning installation or operation to ensure proper use and safety.

Note: This expansion kit is not applicable to SCULPFUN S10 models.

2. Package Contents

Verify that all components listed below are included in your package:

• 2 x Y-axis extension shafts
• 1 x Extension cable
• 4 x 1.3m extension belts
• 4 x T-type screw assemblies
• 1 x Installation manual (refer to this document)

3. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to install the large area expansion kit onto your SCULPFUN S6, S6 Pro, S9, or S9 Pro laser engraver. Refer to the installation video for visual guidance.

3.1 Disassembly of Original Frame

1. Remove Motor Data Cable: Disconnect the motor data cable from the control board.
2. Remove Front (R) Belt Clamp: Unscrew and remove the belt clamp on the front right side of the engraver.
3. Disconnect Front (R) Y-axis Fixation: Unscrew and remove the fixation point for the Y-axis on the front right side.
4. Remove Front (L) Belt Clamp: Unscrew and remove the belt clamp on the front left side of the engraver.
5. Disconnect Front (L) Y-axis Fixation: Unscrew and remove the fixation point for the Y-axis on the front left side.
6. Remove Front Part: Carefully detach the entire front section of the engraver frame.
7. Remove Sliding Shaft: Gently slide out the original Y-axis sliding shaft.
8. Disconnect Back Y-axis Fixation: Unscrew and remove the Y-axis fixation points on the back side of the engraver.

3.2 Assembly of Expansion Kit

9. Arrange Components: Lay out the new extension shafts and other components neatly for easy access.
10. Fasten Extension Shaft to Rear Part: Attach the new Y-axis extension shafts to the rear frame components using the provided T-type screw assemblies. Ensure they are securely fastened.
11. Reinsert Sliding Axis: Carefully reinsert the sliding axis (with the laser module attached) onto the newly extended Y-axis shafts.
12. Replace Extension Cable: Disconnect the original motor cable from the control board. Connect the new, longer extension cable to the control board. Ensure proper connection for single-line, two-wire, or four-wire (red & blue) access as per your specific model's requirements.
13. Fasten Extension Shaft to Front Part: Attach the other ends of the new Y-axis extension shafts to the front frame components using the provided T-type screw assemblies.
14. Install and Lock Belts: Thread the new, longer belts through the appropriate pulleys and secure them with the belt clamps. Warning: Ensure the belts are tightened properly to maintain engraving accuracy.
15. Plug in Motor Data Cable: Reconnect the motor data cable to the motor on the sliding axis.

4. Operating Instructions

After successful installation, your SCULPFUN engraver now has an expanded working area of 410 x 950mm. To utilize this larger area, you must update the device size settings in your engraving software (e.g., LightBurn).

4.1 Software Configuration (LightBurn Example)

1. Open LightBurn: Launch your LightBurn software.
2. Access Device Settings: Navigate to the device settings or machine settings menu.
3. Modify Working Area: Change the X-axis length to 405mm and the Y-axis length to 945mm (or 950mm, depending on the exact model and software version). This will update the virtual workspace to match your physical expanded area.
4. Verify: Ensure the software reflects the new, larger working area.

You can now engrave or cut larger objects such as paintings, tables, benches, doors, or skateboards. The expansion kit maintains the same accuracy and stability as the standard SCULPFUN S6/S6 Pro/S9/S9 Pro machine.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your expansion kit and laser engraver.

• Clean Rails and Belts: Periodically inspect and clean the Y-axis rails and belts to remove dust and debris that could affect smooth movement and accuracy.
• Check Belt Tension: Ensure the extension belts remain properly tensioned. Loose belts can lead to inaccurate engraving or cutting.
• Inspect Cables: Regularly check all cables for any signs of wear, fraying, or damage. Ensure they are securely connected.
• Secure Connections: Verify that all screws and fasteners on the frame and extension shafts are tight. Loose connections can impact stability.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues after installing the expansion kit, consider the following:

• Inaccurate Engraving/Cutting:
  • Check belt tension. Overly loose or tight belts can cause skipping or distortion.
  • Ensure all frame connections are secure.
  • Verify software settings for the working area (X: 405mm, Y: 945mm/950mm) are correctly applied.
• Cables Getting in the Way:
  • Implement proper cable management to prevent cables from snagging or interfering with the laser head's movement. Use cable ties or clips to secure them along the frame.
• Laser Not Functioning (after cable replacement):
  • Double-check all cable connections to the control board and laser module. Ensure they are fully seated and correctly oriented.
  • Confirm that the correct extension cable (single-line, two-wire, or four-wire) was used for your specific engraver model.
• Kit Not Compatible with S10:
  • This expansion kit is designed for SCULPFUN S6, S6 Pro, S9, and S9 Pro models only. It is not compatible with the S10 series.
