3. Installation and Replacement

Follow these steps to replace your Frizzlife PLC10 filter cartridge. It is recommended to turn off the water supply to the system before beginning the replacement process.

  1. Turn off Water Supply: Locate the cold water supply valve leading to your Frizzlife under-sink filter system and turn it off.
  2. Depressurize System: Open the filtered water faucet to release any remaining pressure in the system. Allow water to drain until the flow stops.
  3. Remove Old Filter: Use the filter wrench provided with your original filtration system to loosen and remove the old filter cartridge. Turn counter-clockwise. Note: The filter housing can be very tight. Apply firm pressure and use the provided wrench. If necessary, a strap wrench can assist in gripping the outer housing.
  4. Prepare New Filter: Remove the new PLC10 replacement filter from its packaging. Ensure all protective caps or seals are removed.
  5. Install New Filter: Insert the new filter cartridge into the filter head. Align the top of the filter with the head and twist clockwise until it is securely in place. Hand-tighten only, do not overtighten.
  6. Restore Water Supply: Slowly turn on the cold water supply valve. Check for any leaks around the filter housing.
  7. Flush New Filter: Open the filtered water faucet and allow water to run for approximately 5-10 minutes to flush out any carbon fines and air from the new filter. The water may appear cloudy initially; this is normal and will clear up.

4. Operating Instructions

Once installed and flushed, your Frizzlife PLC10 filter system is ready for use. Simply open your filtered water faucet to dispense purified water. For optimal performance and taste, it is recommended to use cold water for filtration.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the continued effectiveness of your Frizzlife PLC10 filter.

  • Filter Replacement: The PLC10 filter cartridge should be replaced every 1 year or after filtering 1,600 gallons of water, whichever comes first.
  • Monitoring Water Quality: If you notice a decrease in water flow, a change in taste, or increased cloudiness before the recommended replacement interval, it may indicate that the filter is reaching the end of its service life due to high sediment levels in your local water supply. In such cases, consider replacing the filter earlier.

6. Troubleshooting

Difficulty Removing Old Filter:

The filter housing can become very tight over time. Ensure you are using the filter wrench provided with your original system. Apply firm, steady pressure in a counter-clockwise direction. If it remains stuck, a strap wrench can provide additional leverage on the outer housing. Avoid excessive force that could damage the system.

Cloudy Water After Replacement:

It is normal for water to appear cloudy or contain small air bubbles immediately after installing a new filter. This is due to air trapped within the filter media and carbon fines being flushed out. Run the filtered water faucet for 5-10 minutes until the water runs clear. If cloudiness persists after flushing, ensure the filter is properly seated and tightened, and repeat the flushing process.
