Introduction
The Saramonic SR-BV1 is a large diaphragm cardioid dynamic microphone engineered for professional broadcast, podcast, voiceover, and streaming applications. Its design focuses on speech, utilizing a 30mm cardioid end-address dynamic capsule to minimize ambient room noise and the proximity effect. This results in a clear, focused, and consistent vocal recording. Constructed with solid all-brass, the SR-BV1 offers a wide frequency response and low self-noise, delivering a dynamic, full-frequency sound with smooth high frequencies, detailed mid-range, and full bass reproduction. The integrated swing arm mount facilitates easy mounting and quick positioning on microphone stands and broadcast boom arms. An integrated shock mount, internal pop filter, and included foam windscreen work together to ensure optimal recording quality by reducing handling noise, unwanted rumble, vibrations, and vocal plosives.

Operation
The Saramonic SR-BV1 is a dynamic microphone designed for optimal performance in speech-focused applications. Follow these guidelines for best results:
- Positioning: Due to its cardioid polar pattern, the SR-BV1 is most sensitive to sound from the front. Position the microphone directly in front of the sound source (e.g., your mouth) for clear vocal capture.
- Proximity Effect: The microphone's design minimizes the proximity effect, allowing for consistent sound even when speaking close to the microphone. Experiment with distance to achieve your desired vocal tone.
- Gain Settings: Adjust the gain on your audio interface or mixer to an appropriate level. Aim for a strong signal without clipping (distortion).
- Windscreen Usage: Utilize the foam windscreen to further reduce plosive sounds (P's and B's) and protect the capsule from moisture and dust, especially in live or outdoor environments.
Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Saramonic SR-BV1 microphone.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior of the microphone. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the finish or internal components.
- Foam Windscreen: The foam windscreen can be gently hand-washed with mild soap and water if it becomes dirty. Allow it to air dry completely before reattaching.
- Storage: When not in use, store the microphone in a clean, dry place, preferably in its original packaging or a protective case, to prevent dust accumulation and physical damage.
- Avoid Moisture: Keep the microphone away from moisture and extreme temperatures.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your SR-BV1 microphone, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
- No Sound Output:
- Ensure the XLR cable is securely connected to both the microphone and your audio device.
- Verify that your audio interface/mixer is powered on and configured correctly.
- Check the gain settings on your audio device; increase if too low.
- Test with a different XLR cable if possible.
- Poor Sound Quality (Distortion, Low Volume):
- Adjust the gain settings on your audio device to prevent clipping (distortion) or ensure sufficient volume.
- Confirm the microphone is positioned correctly, facing the sound source.
- Ensure no obstructions are covering the microphone grille.
- Check for environmental noise that might be picked up.
- Excessive Plosives (Pops):
- Ensure the foam windscreen is properly installed.
- Adjust microphone positioning slightly further from the mouth or at a slight angle.
