4. Setup
4.1. Inserting Batteries
- Open the battery compartment cover located on the back of the alarm clock.
- Insert two (2) AAA batteries, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
4.2. Initial Time Synchronization (Radio Control)
Upon battery insertion, the clock will automatically attempt to receive the DCF77 radio signal from Frankfurt, Germany. This process may take several minutes. Place the clock near a window for optimal signal reception. Once the signal is received, the clock will automatically set itself to the correct time, including adjustments for daylight saving time.
- Ensure the clock is placed away from electronic devices that may cause interference.
- The clock is designed for Central European Time (CET/CEST).
4.3. Manual Time Setting (If Required)
In areas with poor radio signal reception, manual time adjustment may be necessary. Refer to the operating section for manual time adjustment instructions.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Setting the Alarm Time
- Locate the alarm setting wheel on the side or back of the clock.
- Rotate the wheel to move the alarm hand to your desired wake-up time.
5.2. Activating/Deactivating the Alarm
- To activate the alarm, slide the alarm switch (often a prominent button on top, black for OFF, red for ON) to the "ON" (red) position.
- To deactivate the alarm, slide the alarm switch to the "OFF" (black) position.
5.3. Snooze Function
When the alarm sounds, gently tilt or move the clock slightly (by 1-2 mm) to activate the snooze function. The alarm will pause and sound again after a short interval. This can typically be repeated up to 7 times before the alarm automatically stops after 2 minutes.
5.4. Night Light Function
To briefly illuminate the dial in low light conditions, gently tilt or move the clock slightly. The light will activate for a few seconds.
5.5. Silent Operation Feature
To ensure a quiet sleeping environment and conserve battery power, the second hand automatically stops between 10:00 PM (22:00) and 6:00 AM (06:00) when the alarm is activated. It will resume normal movement outside these hours.
6. Maintenance
6.1. Battery Replacement
When the batteries are low, the second hand may stop moving even during daytime hours. Replace both AAA batteries promptly to ensure continued accurate operation. Follow the steps in Section 4.1 for battery insertion.
6.2. Cleaning
Clean the clock with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the casing or display.
7. Troubleshooting
- Clock not setting time automatically:
- Ensure batteries are correctly inserted and not depleted.
- Move the clock to a location with better radio signal reception, preferably near a window and away from electronic interference.
- Allow sufficient time (up to several hours) for initial synchronization.
- Second hand stops during the day:
- This indicates low battery power. Replace both AAA batteries.
- Alarm not sounding:
- Verify the alarm is activated (switch in the "ON" / red position).
- Check if the alarm time is correctly set.
- Ensure batteries are not depleted.
- Issues with daylight saving time or winter time changes:
- The radio-controlled function should automatically adjust for these changes. If an issue occurs, try manually resetting the clock by removing and reinserting batteries to force a new synchronization attempt.
