Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
- Connect Handset: Plug one end of the coiled cord into the handset and the other end into the designated port on the side of the telephone base unit.
- Connect to Telephone Line: Connect one end of the telephone line cord (RJ11) to the port labeled 'LINE' on the back or side of the telephone base unit. Connect the other end to your telephone wall socket or your router/modem's telephone port.
- Power Supply: The Amplicomms BigTel 40 Plus does not require external batteries or a separate power adapter. It draws power directly from the telephone line.
Your telephone is now ready for basic operation.
Operating Instructions
Making a Call
- Using Photo Direct Dial Buttons:
- Lift the handset.
- Press one of the six photo buttons (M1-M6) corresponding to the desired contact. The phone will automatically dial the pre-programmed number.
- Using the Keypad:
- Lift the handset.
- Dial the desired telephone number using the large numeric keypad.
- Wait for the call to connect.
Receiving a Call
When the phone rings, simply lift the handset to answer the call.
Adjusting Volume Levels

- Handset Volume: The handset volume can be adjusted across seven levels using the slider control located on the side of the phone.
- Ringtone Volume: The ringtone volume can be set to three levels (low, medium, high) using a dedicated slider on the side of the phone. It can reach up to 90dB.
- Audio Boost (+40dB): For significantly amplified sound during a call, activate the Audio Boost feature. This provides up to +40dB amplification. Refer to the specific button or switch for this function, usually marked with a hearing aid symbol or "Boost".
- Microphone Volume: A slider control allows adjustment of the microphone volume, ensuring your voice is transmitted clearly to the other party.
Programming Photo Direct Dial Buttons
The six photo buttons (M1-M6) can be programmed with frequently called numbers. You can insert small photos of your contacts into these slots for easy visual identification.
- Lift the handset.

- Dial the telephone number you wish to store.
- Press the desired photo button (M1-M6) where you want to save the number.
- Replace the handset to save the setting.
- To insert photos, carefully remove the clear plastic cover from the photo button, place the trimmed photo, and replace the cover.
