5. Product Overview

6. Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the GUSTARD X18 DAC and all accessories from the packaging.
- Placement: Place the DAC on a stable, flat surface away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Ensure adequate ventilation.
- Connect Bluetooth Antenna: Screw the provided Bluetooth antenna into the designated connector on the rear panel.
- Power Connection: Connect the power cord to the AC inlet on the rear panel and then to a suitable power outlet.
- Audio Output Connection: Connect the DAC to your amplifier or active speakers using either the balanced XLR outputs or the single-ended RCA outputs.
- Audio Input Connection: Connect your desired audio source (e.g., computer, CD player, streamer) to the appropriate input on the DAC (USB, Coaxial, Optical, AES, IIS, or Bluetooth).
7. Operating Instructions
Power On/Off
- To power on the device, press the power button on the front panel.
- To power off, press and hold the power button until the unit shuts down.
Input Selection
Use the multi-function knob or the remote control to cycle through available input sources (USB, IIS, AES, Coaxial, Optical, Bluetooth).
Volume Control
Rotate the multi-function knob to adjust the output volume. The volume level will be displayed on the OLED screen.
OLED Display Settings
The OLED screen's brightness can be adjusted via the menu. It will automatically enter sleep mode after 10 seconds of inactivity to preserve screen life.
8. Connectivity
USB Input
Connect your computer or other USB audio source using the provided USB cable. The X18 supports high-resolution PCM and DSD formats via USB.
Bluetooth Input
Enable Bluetooth on your source device and select "GUSTARD X18" from the list of available devices to pair. The X18 supports various high-quality Bluetooth codecs including LDAC.
IIS Input
The IIS input allows for direct digital connection to compatible audio sources, supporting high-resolution DSD and PCM signals.
AES, Coaxial, and Optical Inputs
These digital inputs provide versatile connectivity for CD players, network streamers, and other digital audio sources.
9. MQA Playback
The GUSTARD X18 DAC supports full MQA decoding via its USB, AES, Coaxial, and Optical inputs. When playing MQA content, the DAC will fully unfold the MQA file, allowing you to experience the original recording quality as intended by the artist.
10. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the unit. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Ventilation: Ensure that the ventilation openings are not blocked to prevent overheating.

- No Power: Check if the power cord is securely connected and the power outlet is functional.
- No Sound: Verify that the correct input source is selected on the DAC and your amplifier. Check all audio cable connections. Ensure the volume is not set to minimum or muted.
- Distorted Sound: Check the audio source and cables. Ensure the sample rate and bit depth settings on your source device are compatible with the DAC.
- Bluetooth Connection Issues: Ensure the Bluetooth antenna is properly attached. Try re-pairing the device. Disable and re-enable Bluetooth on both the DAC and your source device.
- OLED Screen Not Displaying: Check if the unit is powered on. The screen may be in automatic sleep mode; any operation should reactivate it.
