Valeton Mickey Distortion

Valeton Tone City Mickey Distortion Pedal User Manual

Model: Mickey Distortion

1. Introduction

The Valeton Tone City Mickey Distortion is a compact guitar effect pedal designed to deliver classic "rodent" style distortion tones. This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your pedal.

Please read this manual thoroughly before using the pedal to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

2. Key Features

  • Compact, mini pedal format.
  • Classic "rodent" style distortion.
  • Three essential controls: Volume, Tone, and Gain.
  • Mod switch for enhanced overdrive and saturation.
  • True bypass switching for signal integrity.
  • Durable metal casing.

3. Setup

3.1 Power Supply

The Mickey Distortion pedal requires a 9V DC power adapter with a negative center polarity. The pedal does not support 9V battery operation. Using an incorrect power supply may damage the unit and void the warranty.

Important: Power supply is not included. Ensure your power adapter meets the specified requirements.

3.2 Connecting the Pedal

  1. Connect your guitar to the IN jack on the right side of the pedal using a standard 1/4-inch instrument cable.
  2. Connect the OUT jack on the left side of the pedal to your amplifier's input using another standard 1/4-inch instrument cable.
  3. Connect the 9V DC power adapter to the 9V power input jack located at the top of the pedal.
  4. Ensure all connections are secure before powering on your amplifier.

  • VOL (Volume): Adjusts the overall output level of the pedal.
  • TONE: Controls the tonal character, ranging from smooth and dark to bright and cutting. Lower settings provide a smoother lead tone, while higher settings offer more presence.
  • GAIN: Determines the amount of distortion. Turn clockwise for more saturation and sustain.
  • MOD Switch: A toggle switch that pushes the pedal further into overdrive, providing a bigger, fatter, and more saturated tone, ideal for lead parts.
  • Footswitch: Engages or bypasses the effect. When engaged, the LED indicator will illuminate.

4.2 Basic Usage

  1. Ensure the pedal is properly connected and powered on.
  2. Press the footswitch to engage the effect. The LED will light up.
  3. Start with the VOL, TONE, and GAIN knobs at their mid-point positions.
  4. Adjust the GAIN knob to achieve your desired level of distortion, from a subtle crunch to high-gain saturation.
  5. Use the TONE knob to fine-tune the brightness and character of the distorted sound.
  6. Adjust the VOL knob to balance the effect's output with your amplifier's clean signal.
  7. Experiment with the MOD switch to explore additional tonal variations, especially for lead playing.

5. Maintenance

  • Keep the pedal clean by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Store the pedal in a dry environment, away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
