upHere FH14-12V PC Fan Hub Instruction Manual

Model: FH14-12V

1. Product Overview

The upHere FH14-12V PC Fan Hub is designed to manage and synchronize both fan speed (PWM) and lighting effects (ARGB) for your computer system. This hub is particularly useful for motherboards that feature a 12V 4-pin RGB header but require control over 5V Addressable RGB (ADD-RGB) products. It supports up to six 4-pin PWM fans and up to eight 5V ARGB devices, providing centralized control and power distribution.

2. Key Features

  • Versatile Connectivity: Supports up to 6 fans (3-pin/PWM 4-pin) and up to 8 additional 5V ARGB devices.
  • RGB Conversion: Enables motherboards with a 12V 4-pin RGB header to control 5V ADD-RGB products. Note: This hub does not support motherboards with a native 5V ADD-RGB header for direct control.
  • PWM Fan Control: Connects up to 6 PC fans, with each port supporting PWM function for adjustable fan speeds. The hub draws the PWM signal from the motherboard and feeds back fan speed (only Fan 1's speed is identifiable by the system).
  • Stable Power Supply: Powered by a system PSU SATA connection to ensure stable 12V power for all connected fans and ARGB devices.
  • Compact Design: Easy and quick installation with pre-installed double-sided tape for mounting on the back of the PC case. Dimensions: 86x86x15mm (3.4x3.4x0.6in), Weight: 56g.

  1. Mount the Hub: Use the pre-installed double-sided tape to securely attach the FH14-12V hub to a suitable flat surface inside your PC case, typically behind the motherboard tray for cable management.
  2. Connect SATA Power: Connect the provided SATA Power Cable from your power supply unit (PSU) to the SATA power input on the FH14-12V hub. This provides stable 12V power to all connected devices.
  3. Connect Fans: Connect your 4-pin PWM case fans to the 4-pin PWM fan interfaces on the hub. It is crucial to connect at least one fan to the port labeled "FAN 1" for the motherboard to detect and report fan speed.
  4. Connect ARGB Devices: Connect your 5V 3-pin ARGB devices (e.g., ARGB fans, LED strips) to the 5V 3-pin ARGB interfaces on the hub.
  5. Connect to Motherboard (for Sync):
    • Connect the RGB Sync PWM Cable from the hub to a 12V 4-pin RGB header on your motherboard. This cable also carries the PWM signal for fan speed control.
    • Connect the PWM Fan Header cable from the hub to a System Fan (SYS_FAN) or CPU Fan header on your motherboard. This allows the motherboard to control fan speeds.
  6. Optional Reset Button Connection: If you wish to use your PC case's reset button to control the hub's RGB modes, connect the Reset Button Cable from your case's reset switch to the designated header on the FH14-12V hub.

5. Operation

The FH14-12V hub offers two primary modes of operation for RGB lighting:

5.1 Button Control Mode

When the hub's LED indicator is Red, it is operating in button control mode. In this mode:

  • Press the "M" (Mode) Button to cycle through the hub's pre-programmed RGB lighting effects.
  • Press the "S" (Speed) Button to adjust the speed of the current RGB lighting effect.
  • If the optional Reset Button Cable is connected, pressing your PC case's reset button will also cycle through the RGB lighting effects.

5.2 Motherboard Sync Mode

To switch to motherboard sync mode, press and hold the "M" (Mode) Button for 3 seconds. The hub's LED indicator will turn Green, signifying that it is now controlled by your motherboard's RGB software (e.g., ASUS Aura Sync, GIGABYTE RGB Fusion, MSI Mystic Light, ASRock Polychrome RGB). In this mode:

  • All RGB lighting effects will be controlled via your motherboard's software.
  • The "M" and "S" buttons on the hub will be inactive.
  • Fan speeds will be controlled by the motherboard's fan control settings (e.g., BIOS or software).

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your upHere FH14-12V PC Fan Hub, please refer to the following common solutions:

  • No RGB Lighting or Incorrect Colors:
    • Ensure the SATA power cable is securely connected to both the hub and the PSU.
    • Verify that the 5V 3-pin ARGB devices are correctly plugged into the hub's ARGB ports.
    • Check if the RGB Sync PWM Cable is properly connected to a 12V 4-pin RGB header on your motherboard. This hub is designed for 12V RGB motherboards to control 5V ARGB devices; it will not work with native 5V ARGB motherboard headers.
    • If using motherboard sync mode, ensure your motherboard's RGB software is installed and configured correctly. Try switching between button control and motherboard sync mode by holding the "M" button for 3 seconds.
    • Confirm that your motherboard's 12V RGB header is enabled in the BIOS/UEFI settings.
  • Fans Not Spinning or Incorrect Speed:
    • Ensure all 4-pin PWM fans are securely connected to the hub's PWM ports.
    • Verify that a fan is connected to the "FAN 1" port on the hub, as this port is used for motherboard speed detection.
    • Check that the PWM Fan Header cable from the hub is connected to a System Fan (SYS_FAN) or CPU Fan header on your motherboard.
    • Access your motherboard's BIOS/UEFI or fan control software to ensure fan headers are configured for PWM control and appropriate fan curves are set.
  • Hub Not Responding to Buttons:
    • If the hub's LED is green (motherboard sync mode), the buttons are inactive. Hold the "M" button for 3 seconds to switch back to button control (red LED).
    • Ensure the hub is receiving power via the SATA connection.
  • General Installation Tips:
    • Always install the control hub when the power is off to avoid short circuits.
    • Organize cables to prevent interference with other components and ensure proper airflow.
