3. Setup and Installation

The DVKNM Backup Camera System is designed for easy DIY plug & play installation. It can be powered by the included car charger or hardwired into your vehicle's electrical system. The system supports an operating voltage range of 9-36V, making it suitable for various vehicle types.

3.1 Camera Mounting

The cameras are designed for versatile mounting. They can be installed on the rear of your vehicle, or on side mirrors for improved blind spot visibility. Ensure the camera is securely fastened using the provided installation kits and brackets.

3.2 Wiring Connections

• Connect the cameras to the monitor using the provided 66ft video cables.
• Power the monitor using either the car charger plugged into your vehicle's cigarette lighter socket or by hardwiring it to a suitable power source (9-36V).
• Ensure all connections are secure to prevent signal loss or power interruptions.

3.3 SD Card Insertion

The 32GB SD card for DVR recording is typically pre-installed. If not, locate the SD card slot on the monitor and insert the card until it clicks into place. Ensure the card is correctly oriented.

4.2 Split Screen Mode

4.3 DVR Loop Recording and Playback

The system functions as a dash cam with convenient loop recording. Recorded videos are automatically saved to the included 32GB memory card. When the card is full, the oldest footage is overwritten. You can access and play back recorded videos directly on the monitor.

4.4 Night Vision

The upgraded HD cameras feature a night vision system, ensuring clear visibility even in low-light or dark conditions. When the surrounding light is insufficient or completely dark, the system automatically switches to night vision mode, displaying the image in black and white. • Camera Cleaning: Regularly clean the camera lenses with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt, dust, or water spots that may obstruct the view. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
• Monitor Cleaning: Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to clean the monitor screen. For stubborn smudges, a screen-safe cleaning solution can be applied to the cloth (not directly to the screen).
• Waterproofing: The cameras feature an IP69 waterproof rating and a unique potting process for commercial-grade waterproofing. While highly durable, avoid directing high-pressure water jets directly at the camera housing during washing.
• Cable Inspection: Periodically inspect all cables and connections for any signs of wear, fraying, or damage. Ensure they remain securely connected.
• SD Card Management: Although the system features loop recording, it is recommended to periodically back up important footage and format the SD card (if needed) to maintain optimal recording performance.

• No Image on Monitor:
  • Check all power connections to the monitor and ensure it is receiving power (indicator lights should be on).
  • Verify that the video cables from the cameras are securely connected to the correct input ports on the monitor.
  • Ensure the cameras are receiving power.
  • Cycle through the monitor's input channels using the 'CH' button to ensure the correct camera input is selected.
• Image is Blurry or Distorted:
  • Clean the camera lenses thoroughly.
  • Check for any kinks or damage in the video cables.
  • Ensure the camera is securely mounted and not vibrating.
• Night Vision Issues (Too Dark or Flashing Screen):
  • Ensure the camera's infrared (IR) lights are not obstructed.
  • In extremely low light, the image will be black and white. This is normal for night vision mode.
  • If the screen flashes between normal and night mode, it may be due to fluctuating ambient light. Ensure the camera is positioned to minimize direct light sources at night.
• Recording Gaps or SD Card Errors:
  • Ensure the 32GB SD card is properly inserted and not full.
  • Format the SD card through the monitor's system settings. This can resolve many recording issues.
  • If issues persist, try a different compatible SD card.
• Buttons/Remote Not Responding Correctly:
  • For the remote control, check and replace batteries if necessary.
  • Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the monitor's IR receiver.
  • If physical buttons are unresponsive or behave unexpectedly (e.g., 'up' acts as 'down'), try restarting the monitor by disconnecting and reconnecting power. If the issue persists, contact customer support.
