3.2 Powering On
Press and hold the power button until the display illuminates. The splicer will perform a self-check and display the main operating interface.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Fiber Preparation
- Strip the fiber optic cable to the required length, exposing the bare fiber.
- Clean the bare fiber thoroughly with an alcohol wipe to remove any contaminants.
- Use the TAWAA FC-30 Fiber Cleaver to cleave the fiber end, ensuring a clean, perpendicular cut.
4.2 Splicing Process
- Open the splicer's top cover.
- Place the prepared fibers into the V-grooves of the three-in-one fixture. The fixture supports jumper, bare fiber, and flat fiber types. Ensure the fiber ends are positioned correctly for core alignment.
- Close the fiber clamps and the wind protector.
- The splicer will automatically initiate the splicing process, including core alignment, arc discharge, and splice loss estimation. The 4.3-inch LCD will display the progress.
- Once splicing is complete (approximately 6 seconds), the estimated splice loss will be displayed.

4.3 Heat Shrink Protection
- Carefully remove the spliced fiber from the V-grooves.
- Slide a heat shrink sleeve over the splice point.
- Place the fiber with the heat shrink sleeve into the heating oven.
- Close the oven lid. The heating process will start automatically (approximately 16 seconds).
- Once heating is complete, carefully remove the protected splice.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Electrode Maintenance
The electrodes have a service life of approximately 5000 splices. When splice quality degrades or the splicer indicates electrode replacement, follow the manufacturer's guidelines for replacement. Always use genuine replacement electrodes.
5.2 Cleaning
- Regularly clean the V-grooves, fiber clamps, and objective lenses with a lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol.
- Keep the splicing area free from dust and fiber debris to ensure optimal performance.
- Clean the exterior of the splicer with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals.
6. Troubleshooting
This section provides solutions to common issues encountered during the operation of the FX39 Fusion Splicer.
6.1 High Splice Loss
- Cause: Poor fiber cleave. Solution: Re-cleave the fiber ends using the FC-30 cleaver, ensuring a clean, perpendicular cut.
- Cause: Dirty fiber ends. Solution: Clean fiber ends thoroughly with alcohol wipes before cleaving and splicing.
- Cause: Dirty V-grooves or fiber clamps. Solution: Clean the V-grooves and clamps with a cotton swab and alcohol.
- Cause: Worn or contaminated electrodes. Solution: Clean or replace electrodes if they have exceeded their service life or appear damaged.
6.2 Splicer Not Powering On
- Cause: Low battery. Solution: Connect the splicer to the charger and allow it to charge.
- Cause: Battery not properly installed. Solution: Ensure the battery pack is securely seated in its compartment.
6.3 Heating Oven Malfunction
- Cause: Oven lid not fully closed. Solution: Ensure the heating oven lid is completely closed before starting the heating cycle.
- Cause: Overheating protection activated. Solution: Allow the splicer to cool down if it has been used continuously for an extended period.
