Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for optimal audio performance and comfort. Follow these steps to set up your Cardo Spirit headset.
1. Speaker Placement
Correct speaker placement directly over your ears is vital for great sound and maximum volume. Even if your helmet has designated speaker cutouts, ensure the speakers align perfectly with your ears when the helmet is worn.
Video: This video demonstrates the importance of correct speaker placement within your helmet for optimal audio quality and volume. It shows how to adjust speakers to sit directly over your ears, even if your helmet has pre-defined cutouts. It also covers using spacer pads for a better fit and addressing discomfort.
To verify placement, unplug the speakers from the unit, play music, and hold them directly over your ears to gauge the ideal volume. Then, adjust their position inside the helmet to match this volume. If you experience pain, speakers might be too high; try moving them slightly down and forward. Use the provided booster pads if speakers need to be closer to your ears.

2. Microphone Installation
The Cardo Spirit comes with different microphone options suitable for various helmet types.
Video: This detailed installation guide covers mounting the Cardo Spirit unit, speakers, and microphone in various helmet types (open-face, 3/4, and full-face). It provides tips for optimal speaker placement, wire management, and securing the microphone for clear communication.
- Hybrid Boom Microphone (for Open-Face/3/4 Helmets): This microphone attaches to the helmet's side and extends towards your mouth. Ensure the small yellow triangle on the microphone is facing your mouth for optimal voice input.
- Wired Microphone (for Full-Face Helmets): This microphone is discreetly placed inside the helmet, near your mouth, often within the chin bar area.
Clean the area where the microphone will be placed with an alcohol wipe before applying the adhesive Velcro. Position the microphone so it is directly in front of your mouth when the helmet is worn.
3. Unit Mounting
The Spirit unit can be mounted using either a spring-tension clamp or an adhesive plate, depending on your helmet's design and personal preference.
- Spring-Tension Clamp: Ideal for helmets with a thin, flexible rim. This clamp securely grips the helmet's edge.
- Adhesive Plate: Recommended for helmets with thicker or rigid rims where the clamp may not fit. Ensure the surface is clean and dry before applying.
Once the mount is secured, slide the Cardo Spirit unit onto the mount until it clicks into place.
