Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for optimal audio quality and secure fit. The FREECOM 2X is designed to fit most helmet types.
1. Charging the Device
Before first use, fully charge the FREECOM 2X unit. Connect the supplied USB cable to the charging port on the device and to a USB power source. The LED indicator will show charging status.

2. Mounting the Unit to Your Helmet
Choose between the clamp mount or the adhesive plate mount based on your helmet type and preference.
Clamp Mount:
- Loosen the screws on the clamp mount.
- Slide the clamp between the helmet shell and the inner padding on the left side of the helmet.
- Tighten the screws to secure the clamp.
- Slide the FREECOM 2X unit onto the clamp until it clicks into place.
Adhesive Plate Mount:
- Clean the desired mounting area on the left side of your helmet with an alcohol prep pad and let it dry completely.
- Peel off the protective backing from the adhesive plate.
- Firmly press the adhesive plate onto the helmet surface for 30 seconds.
- Allow 24 hours for the adhesive to fully cure before attaching the unit.
- Slide the FREECOM 2X unit onto the adhesive plate until it clicks into place.

3. Speaker and Microphone Installation
Position the speakers and microphone correctly for clear audio.
- Speakers: Attach the Velcro pads to the back of the speakers. Place the speakers inside the helmet's ear pockets, ensuring they are centered over your ears for optimal sound.
- Microphone:
- For open-face or modular helmets, use the boom microphone. Attach it to the helmet's chin bar using Velcro, positioning the microphone close to your mouth.
- For full-face helmets, use the wired microphone. Attach it to the inside of the helmet near your mouth using Velcro.
- Route all cables neatly under the helmet padding to prevent interference and ensure comfort. Connect the speaker and microphone cables to the corresponding ports on the FREECOM 2X unit.

- Intercom Pairing (Rider-to-Rider):
- Ensure both FREECOM 2X units are on.
- On one unit, press and hold the Front Button for 5 seconds until the LED flashes red.
- On the second unit, press the Front Button once.
- The units will automatically connect. A voice prompt will confirm the connection.

Using the Cardo Connect App
The Cardo Connect App provides advanced control and customization options for your FREECOM 2X.
