Introduction

The Keychron K6 Pro is an advanced custom wireless mechanical keyboard designed to enhance your typing experience. It features QMK/VIA compatibility for easy customization of keys and macros, an improved typing sound and feel, and a flexible hot-swappable design. This manual provides essential information for setting up, operating, and maintaining your K6 Pro keyboard.

Setup

1. Initial Connection

The Keychron K6 Pro supports both wireless Bluetooth 5.1 and wired USB-C connections. Ensure the mode switch on the side of the keyboard is set to your desired connection type.

2. Operating System Compatibility

The K6 Pro is fully compatible with macOS, Windows, and Linux operating systems. Use the OS switch located on the side of the keyboard to select the appropriate operating system mode for optimal key mapping.

3. Bluetooth Pairing (Wireless Mode)

1. Ensure the keyboard is in Bluetooth mode using the side switch.
2. Press and hold fn1 + Q for 3 seconds to pair with Bluetooth device 1. The Q key will flash rapidly.
3. On your device (laptop, phone, tablet), search for Bluetooth devices and select "Keychron K6 Pro".
4. Repeat for fn1 + W (device 2) and fn1 + E (device 3) to connect up to three devices.
5. Switch between paired devices by pressing fn1 + Q, fn1 + W, or fn1 + E.

Customizing Keys with QMK/VIA Launcher

The K6 Pro is QMK/VIA compatible, allowing for extensive customization of key assignments and macros. To remap keys, connect the keyboard via USB-C and use the QMK/VIA Launcher web application.

• Connect the K6 Pro to your device using the provided USB-C cable.
• Access the QMK/VIA Launcher web application (refer to Keychron's official website for the link).
• Drag and drop desired keys or macros to remap any key on macOS, Windows, or Linux.
• Note: Key remapping must be done in wired mode. Once remapped, the new keymap will function in both wireless and wired modes.

Maintenance

Cleaning Your Keyboard

• Disconnect the keyboard from all power sources before cleaning.
• Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution to wipe down the keycaps and frame.
• For deeper cleaning, use the provided keycap puller to remove keycaps and clean underneath with compressed air or a small brush.

Hot-Swappable Switches

The Keychron K6 Pro features hot-swappable sockets, allowing you to change mechanical switches without soldering. It supports almost all 3-pin and 5-pin MX mechanical switches.

1. Use the provided switch puller to carefully remove existing switches.
2. Align the pins of the new switch with the holes on the PCB.
3. Gently press the new switch into place until it clicks. Ensure pins are not bent.

Troubleshooting

Connectivity Issues

• Keyboard not connecting via Bluetooth: Ensure the keyboard is in Bluetooth mode and fully charged. Try re-pairing by holding fn1 + Q/W/E for 3 seconds. Check your device's Bluetooth settings.
• Keyboard not recognized in wired mode: Ensure the USB-C cable is securely connected to both the keyboard and your computer. Try a different USB port or cable.

Key Functionality

• Keys not responding: Check if the switch is properly seated. If hot-swappable, try removing and reinserting the switch, or try a different switch in that position.
• Incorrect key output: Verify the OS switch is set to your operating system (Mac/Windows). If you have remapped keys, ensure the QMK/VIA settings are correct.
