Introduction

The Fishman Loudbox Artist is a professional acoustic amplifier designed to deliver clear, powerful sound for live performances and studio use. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your Fishman Loudbox Artist amplifier:

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the amplifier and all accessories from the packaging. Inspect for any signs of damage.
  2. Power Connection: Connect the provided power cord to the amplifier's power input and then to a grounded AC power outlet. Ensure the amplifier's power switch is in the OFF position before connecting.
  3. Instrument Connection: For acoustic guitars or other instruments, connect an instrument cable (e.g., the included oxygen-free instrument cable) from your instrument's output to the "Instrument" input on Channel 1 or Channel 2.
  4. Microphone Connection: For microphones, use an XLR cable (e.g., the included Gearlux XLR microphone cable) to connect your microphone to the "Mic" input on Channel 1 or Channel 2. If your microphone requires phantom power, activate the +48V phantom power switch for that channel.
  5. Initial Power On: Once all connections are secure, turn the amplifier's power switch to the ON position. The power indicator light will illuminate.
  6. Volume Adjustment: Start with the Master Volume and individual channel Gain controls set to their minimum positions. Gradually increase the Gain for the active channel and then the Master Volume to achieve your desired listening level.

Operating Instructions

Channel Controls

The Loudbox Artist features two identical channels, each with independent controls for optimal sound shaping.

  • Input: Each channel has a combination input jack that accepts both 1/4-inch instrument cables and XLR microphone cables.
  • Pad Switch: Engages a -10dB pad for high-output instruments or microphones to prevent clipping.
  • Gain: Adjusts the input sensitivity for the connected instrument or microphone. Set this to achieve a strong signal without clipping (indicated by the Clip LED).
  • 3-Band EQ (Low, Mid, High): Provides tone shaping for bass, midrange, and treble frequencies.
  • Anti-Feedback: Helps to eliminate feedback by notching out problematic frequencies.
  • Phase Switch: Inverts the phase of the input signal, which can help reduce feedback or improve sound quality when using multiple inputs.
  • Effects Level: Controls the amount of the selected digital effect (Reverb or Chorus) applied to the channel.
  • Phantom Power (+48V): Activates phantom power for condenser microphones connected via the XLR input.

Master Section

  • Master Volume: Controls the overall output volume of the amplifier.
  • Effects (Reverb, Chorus): Selects and adjusts the parameters for the built-in digital reverb and chorus effects.
  • Aux Input: A 1/4-inch input for connecting external audio devices like MP3 players or drum machines.
  • Bluetooth Pairing: Press and hold the Bluetooth button to pair with a compatible device. The indicator light will flash during pairing and remain solid when connected.
  • D.I. Outputs: Balanced XLR outputs for sending the signal to a PA system, mixing console, or recording interface. There are separate D.I. outputs for Channel 1, Channel 2, and a Main Mix D.I.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Fishman Loudbox Artist amplifier.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the amplifier's exterior. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents. The included polishing cloth is ideal for maintaining the finish.
  • Storage: Store the amplifier in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the amplifier's vents are not obstructed during operation to prevent overheating.
  • Cable Care: Regularly inspect all cables for wear and tear. Replace damaged cables to prevent signal loss or electrical hazards.
  • Transportation: When transporting the amplifier, use appropriate protective covers or cases to prevent physical damage.
