Setup
Setting the Time and Date
- Unscrew the Crown: Locate the crown on the right side of the watch case. Gently unscrew it counter-clockwise until it is free from the case.
- Pull the Crown:
- First Click (Date Adjustment): Pull the crown out to the first click position. Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to adjust the date.
- Second Click (Time Adjustment): Pull the crown out further to the second click position. Turn the crown to set the hour and minute hands. Ensure the 24-hour sub-dial (at 3 o'clock) is correctly synchronized for AM/PM if setting the date.
- Push and Screw Down the Crown: Once the time and date are set, push the crown back into the case. While pushing, gently screw it clockwise until it is securely tightened against the watch case. This ensures water resistance.
Operating the Chronograph Functions
The Pagani Design PD1644 features a chronograph with specific sub-dial functions:
- Central Chronograph Second Hand: This hand is controlled by the buttons on the right side of the watch.
- Sub-dial at 6 o'clock: This is the actual running second hand for the main time display.
- Sub-dial at 9 o'clock: This functions as a minute counter for the chronograph.
- Sub-dial at 3 o'clock: This is a 24-hour clock display.
Chronograph Button Functions
- Top-Right Button: Press this button to start or pause the central chronograph second hand.
- Bottom-Right Button: Press this button to reset the central chronograph second hand and the minute counter (9 o'clock sub-dial) to zero. This button is active only when the chronograph is stopped.
Note: The central chronograph second hand has a maximum continuous operating time of 1 hour to conserve battery life.
Water Resistance
This watch is water resistant up to 100 meters (10 ATM). It is suitable for everyday use, including rain, hand washing, and swimming. However, it is not recommended for diving or hot bathing, as extreme temperature changes and high-pressure water jets can compromise the seals.
Maintenance and Care
- Cleaning: Regularly wipe the watch case and bracelet with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and dirt. For stainless steel, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by drying.
- Avoid Chemicals: Do not expose the watch to harsh chemicals, solvents, or detergents, as these can damage the case, seals, and bracelet finish.
- Temperature Extremes: Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperatures (hot or cold) or sudden temperature changes, which can affect the movement and water resistance.
- Impact: Protect the watch from strong impacts or shocks, which can damage the internal movement or external components.
- Water Resistance Check: If the watch is frequently exposed to water, it is recommended to have the water resistance seals checked periodically by a qualified watch technician.
- Battery Replacement: As a quartz watch, it is powered by a battery. When the watch stops or the second hand begins to jump in multi-second intervals (End-of-Life indicator), the battery needs to be replaced by a professional watchmaker.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Watch not running | Depleted battery | Replace battery by a professional watchmaker. |
| Time is inaccurate | Incorrect setting or magnetic interference | Reset the time as per the "Setting the Time and Date" section. Keep the watch away from strong magnetic fields. |
| Chronograph hands do not reset to zero | Chronograph not stopped before reset, or internal misalignment | Ensure the chronograph is stopped before pressing the reset button. If the issue persists, a professional adjustment may be required. |
| Water inside the watch | Crown not screwed down, or seals compromised | Immediately take the watch to a professional watchmaker for inspection and repair to prevent further damage. Ensure the crown is always securely screwed down after adjustment. |
