3. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your Phenyx Pro PTU-1U wireless microphone system:

  1. Receiver Placement: Position the receiver in a stable location, away from potential sources of interference (e.g., computers, large metal objects). Ensure clear line-of-sight to the microphone's intended operating area. The receiver is rack-mountable; use the included antenna kit for front-mounting antennas if desired.
  2. Antenna Connection: Screw the two included antennas onto the ANT connectors on the rear of the receiver. Ensure they are securely tightened and positioned vertically for optimal reception.
  3. Power Connection: Connect the provided power adapter to the DC IN port on the receiver and plug it into a suitable power outlet.
  4. Audio Output: Connect the receiver's audio output (XLR or 1/4'' jack) to your mixer, amplifier, or audio interface using the supplied 1/4'' audio cable or a separate XLR cable.
  5. Microphone Battery Installation: Unscrew the bottom part of the handheld microphone. Insert two AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity. Screw the bottom part back on securely.

4. Operating Instructions

Once the system is set up, follow these steps for operation:

  1. Power On: Press the POWER button on the receiver to turn it on. The display will illuminate. Turn on the handheld microphone by pressing and holding its power button.
  2. Automatic Frequency Scan: To find the clearest available frequency, press the 'SET' button on the receiver. The system will automatically scan for an interference-free channel.
  3. IR Synchronization: After the scan, align the IR window on the microphone with the IR sensor on the receiver. Press the 'IR' button on the receiver to synchronize the microphone to the selected frequency. The microphone's display will update to show the new frequency.
  4. Squelch Control (SQL): The receiver features squelch control to eliminate unwanted background noise. Access the SQL setting via the receiver's menu to adjust the threshold. A higher SQL setting reduces sensitivity but can prevent unwanted noise.
  5. Lock Function: To prevent accidental changes to the receiver's settings, activate the lock function through the receiver's menu.
  6. Microphone RF Power Switch: The handheld microphone has an RF power switch (HI/LO). 'HI' provides stronger signal transmission for longer distances, while 'LO' conserves battery power for shorter ranges or backstage use.
  7. Mute Function: The microphone features an ON/MUTE/OFF button. A short press can mute the microphone without turning it off.

5. Key Features

The Phenyx Pro PTU-1U system is equipped with several advanced features for optimal performance:

5.1 True Diversity Circuitry

This system utilizes true diversity technology, employing two independent receiver modules for each channel. This design continuously monitors the signal strength from both antennas and automatically switches to the stronger signal, effectively minimizing signal dropouts and interference for an unimpeded reception.
