Operating Instructions
General Cooking Guidelines
- Heat Settings: The forged aluminum body heats quickly and evenly. Use low to medium heat for most cooking. High heat should only be used for boiling water or searing, and only for short periods.
- Utensils: Always use heat-resistant silicone, wooden, or plastic utensils to protect the nonstick surface.
- Oil/Butter: While the nonstick coating allows for cooking with little to no oil, a small amount of cooking oil or butter is recommended for flavor and to enhance the nonstick performance over time. Avoid aerosol cooking sprays as they can leave a residue that may affect the nonstick properties.
- Induction Compatibility: The Magneto induction base ensures uniform heating on all stovetops, including induction, gas, electric, and ceramic.
- Oven Use: The cooker is oven safe up to 600°F (315°C). The glass lid is oven safe up to 425°F (218°C).
Cooking Rice and Grains
The unique shape of the GreenPan Rice & Grains Cooker is designed to circulate and distribute heat effectively, ensuring fluffy and perfectly cooked results.

Figure 2: Optimal Heat Circulation for Fluffy Grains
Follow the specific instructions for your type of rice or grain, typically a 1:2 ratio of grain to water for most rice varieties. Bring water to a boil, add grains, stir once, cover with the lid, reduce heat to low, and simmer until water is absorbed. Let stand for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Maintenance and Care
Cleaning
The GreenPan Rice & Grains Cooker is designed for easy cleanup.
- Hand Washing: For best results and to prolong the life of the nonstick coating, hand washing with warm, soapy water and a soft sponge or cloth is recommended.
- Dishwasher Safe: The cooker is dishwasher safe for convenience. However, frequent dishwasher use may dull the exterior finish over time.
- Allow the cooker to cool completely before washing to prevent warping.
- For stubborn food residue, soak the pan in warm, soapy water for a few minutes before cleaning.

When storing, place a pan protector or a soft cloth between the cooker and other cookware to prevent scratches to the nonstick surface.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Food sticking to the surface. | Too high heat, insufficient oil, or residue buildup from cooking sprays. | Use low to medium heat. Add a small amount of cooking oil or butter. Avoid aerosol cooking sprays. Clean thoroughly after each use. |
| Uneven cooking. | Cooker not centered on heat source, or heat setting too low/high. | Ensure the cooker is centered on the burner. Adjust heat setting as needed for even cooking. The Magneto base provides excellent heat distribution. |
| Handles getting hot. | Normal for stovetop use, especially on gas burners where flames extend up the sides. | Always use oven mitts or pot holders when handling the cooker during or immediately after cooking. Ensure flame size does not extend beyond the base of the pot. |
| White residue on nonstick surface. | Mineral deposits from hard water, or residue from certain foods. | Clean with a mixture of water and white vinegar (1:1 ratio). Gently wipe with a soft cloth. Rinse thoroughly. |
